GENERAL SPECIFICATION:

This purchase order specification covers SHELL PLATES purchasing requirements for PRESSURE VESSELS.
JOB SPECIFICATION METALLURGICAL
REQUIREMENTS
A-1- APPLICABLE CODE AND STANDARD
The following codes and standards together with referenced applicable codes & standards shall be applied.
ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1, 2010 Edition., Addenda 2011 (Part UG-4 till UG-15)
ASME Sec. II Part A, 2010 Edition., Addenda 2011
A-2- SCOPE OF SUB-VENDOR'S WORK
Vendor's scope of work shall include the following items:
A-2-1) Roll direction shall be indicated on plates.
A-2-2) Plates shall be provided with positive tolerances on thickness. Negative tolerances
on thickness are not accepted.
A-2-3) Carbon content shall not exceed 0.23%
And carbon equivalent based on ladle analysis shall be calculated by using the following formula:


A-2-4) General requirements shall be according to SA-20 of ASME code section II for carbon steel plates
A-2-5) All plates over & equal to 20mm in thickness should be UT according to ASTM,A-578 Level B
A-2-6) Chemical analysis of alloy materials shall be spot checked.
A-2-7) All material should be new.
A-2-8) Impact test should be done for indicated items @-46 degree according to
ASME SEC.VIII Div.I-Part UG-84 (indicated items should meet requirements of S5 defined in SA-20).
A-2-9) Indicated items should meet the requirements of S3 defind in SA-20. Mechanical tests shall be
performed on the speciments got from coupon subjected to the"Simulated post weld heat treated"
for three times without losing mechanical/chemical properties.
(Note: Graph for simulated post weld heat treatment will be send later)
A-2-10) All SA-516-70 plates to be normalized.
A-2-11) Deleted
Cladding plates:
A-2-12) Cladding shall be continuously bonded to the base metal & shall meet the requirements of the
material specification of ASTM A-264 & A-578.
A-2-13) Clad plates shall have a minimum shear strength of 14 kgf/mm

A-2-14) Before cladding base metal should be UT according to ASTM,A-578,Level B.
After cladding, UT should be done according to S6 defind in ASTM,A-578
(acceptance level:(ASME,SA-264(Edition 2010), Part:13-3(Quality levels:Class 1))
A-2-15) Before caldding base metal should be UT according to ASTM,A-578,Level B.
After cladding, UT should be done according to S7 defind in ASTM,A-578
(acceptance level:(ASME,SA-264(Edition 2010), Part:13-3(Quality levels:Class 1))
A-2-16) for cladded plate, After cladding Simulated post weld treatment should be done(See A-2-9).
A-3- DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED.(In English and SI units)
A-3-1) Material shall comply with the relevant certificates per European standard EN10 204 3.1
A-3-2) Result of NDE (Non Destructive Examination).
A-3-3) Dimensional inspection results.
A-3-4) Result of mechanical tests.
A-3-5) Packing list.
A-3-6) Heat number.
A-3-7) Chemical analysis results.
Notes:
1- All dimensions are in millimeters unless otherwise specified.

2- Specification shall be punched on Plates.
3- Each plate shall be marked by the mill with a readable stamp showing the material type, grade number
and heat number.
