THE CN 3600 I NTELLI GENT OPTI CAL MULTI SERVI CE SWI TCH is an advanced Next-Generation
SONET/SDH Multiservice Provisioning Platform with industry-leading integrated Digital Cross-connect
System (DCS) capabilities. The CN 3600 is the perfect solution for small office DCS, large office legacy
DCS growth, international gateway and next-gen SONET/SDH ADM applications. The CN 3600 delivers
OC-3 to OC-192 SONET, DS1, DS3/EC-1, equivalent SDH services as well as Ethernet services with scalable
switching fabrics for DCS applications.
For DCS applications, the CN 3600 offers savings up to 50% in equipment, 70% in power and 80% in
space utilization over legacy systems. Efficiencies are gained from optical and electrical transmux features
with advanced VT1.5 and STS switch matrices that scale to fit the needs of small and medium-sized
central offices and also large-office DCS cap-and-grow strategies. The CN 3600 replaces central office
M13s, ring terminating ADMs and legacy DCS growth requirements.
For international gateway applications, the CN 3600 offers a single platform supporting both SONET and
SDH translation, transport and switching eliminating the need for multiple ADMs with separate software
and tediously managed low order multiplexers. Savings up to 50% in capital costs and 90% in space are
often realized.
