4. Measuring the nation income (Chapter 22 GM)
5. Measuring the cost of living (Chapter 23 GM)
6. Production and growth (Chapter 24 GM)
7. Saving, investment and the financial system (Chapter 25 GM )
8. The short-run trade-off between inflation and unemployment (Chapter 33
GM)

Second part (for all the students)

1. The basic tools of finance (you can download from my blog)


2. Monetary System (Chapter 27GM)
3. Money Growth and Inflation (Chapter 28 GM )
4. Open Economy : macroeconomics basic concepts (Chapter 29 GM )
5. International Trade (Chapter 9 GM)
6. Aggregate demand and aggregate supply (Chapter 31 GM )
7. A macroeconomic theory of the open economy (Chapter 30 GM)

I remind you the SCHEDULE from now till the end of the course

10 of December is the dead-line for the delivering of your essays and


homework. You have in my blog already the readings for the writing
your essays and two sets of problems.

You have the following 3 readings (with the label SMK_MACRO2009)

a) Hal Varian paper: “What use is economic theory?” by Hal R. Varian.


b) Paul Krugman article: “How did economist get it wroing?” by Paul
Krugman
c) Gregory Mankiw paper: “Real Business cycles: a new Keynesian
perspective” by G. Mankiw.

Content of your essays :You have to stress the main three or four ideas of
those papers. I will appreciate if your answer is not “ minimalistic”. Try to
include a personal reflection. Parts of the paper you like and parts of the
paper you don’t like. Why? The essays should be longer than 2 pages.
Times new roman 12 points.

17 of December: Final exam. The final exam will consist in two blocks of
multiple choice questions plus a set of questions where you will have to
develop problems, ideas and concepts.

I remind you that you have to hand in your essays, homework , etc… by
hard-copy!!!
