1. SCOPE:

This document describes the proposed methodology for the Construction, Completion,
Maintenance, and Delivering up of the Project DESIGN & BUILD CATERING SOUTHSIDE
IMPROVEMENT, Expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport all complete as specified,
detailed on Drawings and to the approval of the Engineer. The Location, the nature of the
project and the schedule duration are critical. To meet the requirement, suitable construction
methodology has been proposed in all the works to ensure the quality and safety as well as the
speedy construction. A commitment to maintain the highest possible standards has played a
key role in finalizing the construction methodology for the project.

The works will be carried out through experienced management team within the tight time frame
schedule agreed between the Client, the Contractor, and the Consultant.

3. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Manager and Project Engineer are responsible for the implementation of these
method statements at site.

4. DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
4.1 Dust proof temporary partition between Axis (A-C) & (1-8).
4.2 Shutdown / switch-off / re-route all existing MEP service & relocation of existing MEP
Services as follows:

4.2.1 Dismantling and Relocation of Electrical Works
a) Analyzing & tracing the existing circuit wires & cables.
b) Isolate the power supply from concerned FDB/SMDB.
c) Marking the concerned all circuit wires & cables.
d) Removing the concerned FDBs,
e) Removing the existing light fitting.
f) Removing the existing Switches & Sockets.

g) Removing the existing Fire Alarm devices.
h) Removing the existing chiller MCC panels.
i) Removing the existing cables and cable trays for the above FDBs and Chilled
MCC Panels.
j) Shifting the existing FDB/SMDB.
k) Shifting the existing Telephone cabinet.
l) Rerouting the existing cables and cable trays with new support for new
dishwasher machine.
m) New supports for the existing cable tray.

4.2.2 Relocation of Plumbing Works.
a) Extending existing water supply line (Cold & Hot) from existing dishwashing area.
b) Disconnect the existing floor drains.
c) Disconnect only the chillers drains.

4.2.3 Relocation of Fire Fighting Works.
No fire fighting relocation.

4.2.4 Relocation of HVAC Works.
a) Remove FCU with ducting & air out let & use to other area.
b) Remove Chilled water pipe.

4.3 Demolish of existing chiller and freezer and cart away to approved dumping area
(specify the tools, the route, where to be dumped and how to be removed from the
site).
4.4 Dismantle of existing door and hand over to ADAC Store.
4.5 Demolish existing block works and cart away to approved dumping area (specify the
tools, the route, where to be dumped and how to be removed from the site).
4.6 Breaking of 8 nos. new offloading bay doors and cart away to approved dumping area.
4.7 Coring new drain point (4 nos.) as shown in the attached sketch.

a) Fix cable new cable trays on the ceiling, with appropriate supports.
b) Lay new cables for the new dishwasher machine and new chillers.
c) Fix the new isolators for the all dishwashers and new chillers as per approved
drawing.
d) Fix the new isolators for the new bays as per approved drawings.
e) Fix SMDBs as per approved drawings.
f) Fix flush/surface mounted Final DBs as per approved drawing.

4.9.2. Plumbing Works.
a) Supply & Install of drainage piping.
b) Supply & install of proposed floor drains.

c) Supply & install of grease separator to serve the new dishwasher machine.

4.9.3. Fire Fighting Works.

4.9.4. HVAC Works.
a) Install all ducting works between G.I duct & stainless duct as per approval design
& shop drawing.
b) Supply & Install one FAHU for dish wash area and one AHU for off-load area.
c) Supply & install new chilled water pipe for FAHU & AHU.

a) Terminate cables at Isolators MDBs/SMDBs and equipments.
b) Terminate the above cables to the panels.
c) DB dressing to be done, after termination at FDBs.

4.18.2. Plumbing Works.
a) Installation of Manhole covers.
b) Fix Floor drain cover.
c) Final connection for dish washing machine.

4.18.3. Fire Fighting Works.
a) Fix fire hose reel cabinet if required.

a) Install air out let on reflect ceiling as per approval drawings.

4.21 Final fixing.
a) Fix the new light fittings in new sanitizing, dry store, veg. chiller, consumable holding,
stock holding and other airline areas as per the approved drawing.
b) Fix the escape route exit light fittings in corridors.
c) Re arrange the existing light fittings in dishwasher area off load bay areas, as per the
approved drawing.
d) Fix the escape route exist light fittings in corridors.
e) Fix the new power outlets in new sanitizing, dry store, veg, chillers, consumable holding
stock holding and other air lines area as per approved drawing.
f) Fix the new industrial socket for new bays.
g) Fix control panel for FAHU & AHU.

4.22 Final touch-up finish

5 MACHINES, TOOLS & EQUIPMENTS:
Demolition Tools.
Masonry Hand Tools.
Plant Equipment and machinery are required for each area.
List of Plant equipments will be attached later.

6 SITE OFFICES:
Site offices of the Client, The Consultant, Main Contractor and the Sub contractors are
erected in the area allocated for contractors facilities and as per the requirements
stipulated in the specifications. Offices will be fully equipped to ensure a proper
productions pace. The offices will be equipped with a Local Area Network (LAN).

7 SITE FACILITIES:
Site facilities will be provided as follows:
1. Labour rest area and staff offices, Lay down area and satellite caravans.

2. Storage facilities, including store keeper offices
3. First Aid Room with proper first aid medicine
4. Provision for lighting to allow round the clock operation in all areas of the
site, if required.

8 MATERIAL STORAGE:
1. Due to very tight spaces availability, the storage facilities at site are very
limited and various detailed logistic plans for material storage will be
developed during construction progress.
2. As far as practicable, the contractor will minimize the handling operations,
thus reducing possible incidents.
3. In case of putting materials/ equipment on the exposed concrete slabs, the
contractor will take necessary measures to prevent any possible damage to
the structure
4. Materials stored on site will be secured and protected.
5. Controlled storage plans for critical items will be implemented and monitored
thoroughly and continuously.

9 MOBILIZATION AT SITE:
Mobilisation of staff and labour will be done in a phased manner and as per the
requirement at any given point of time. Construction machinery will follow the same
principle.

QA/QC

To ensure that all the work carried out are according to the contract specifications and
approved method statement.
To ensure full compliance of the works with related to quality procedures.
To inspect and satisfy himself with the completed work, before requesting Consultants
approval or inspection.
To initiate inspection and test request for Consultants approval.
To advise the Engineer and Foreman of all the specific requirements related to quality and
make sure that they are aware about the inspections to be conducted before to complete
inspection and test records for any future reference.

Safety:

Prior to the commencement of any activities, the workforce will receive an induction talk on
the project site safety requirements.
The necessary safety measures will be taken to prevent accident or injury at all times. This
may include barriers, warning tape/net, signage, watchman, Flashing and Rotating lights at
night.
Where work upon existing services may be required, the necessary work permits and

safety equipment should be obtained prior to the activity commencement.
Safety staff will ensure that Personal Protective Equipment is worn by site personnel at all
times during construction activities.
Heat Stress Training will be provided.
Cold drinking water will be provided at the site.
Provisions of adequate cool drinking water, shade, and salt tablets will be in place.
Equipments will be provided with back-up alarms, lights, and all other applicable safety
devices.
