Terminal designations laid down in this Standard are to ensure as faultless a connection as possible of electrical apparatus. The development of new equipment necessitates the use of multi-pole connectors for which the terminal markings according to DIN 72552 are no longer adequate.

Generator, regulator, starting, lighting systems Switches Relays Generator, generator regulators Direction indicators The terminal markings laid down in this Standard for motor vehicle electrical systems, are to ensure as faultless a connection as possible of electrical apparatus, especially in the event of repair of replacement units. The development of new equipment necessitates the use of multi-pole connectors for which the terminal markings according to DIN 72552 are no longer adequate. For these, a numerical or alphabetical sequence is used, that has no particular relation to the functions concerned.
