AIM

This project aims to investigate the impact of Trumpton Airport on the water quality of
the River Trump.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS
The investigation aims to address the following specific research questions:
Does runoff from Trumpton Airport contain pollutants that have a measurable
impact on the water quality of the River Trump?
What are the main pollutants and their sources?
How far downstream can the pollutants and their impact be traced?
Is there a detectable seasonal variation on pollutant load?
Do the current clean up facilities at Trumpton Airport meet with statutory
requirements?
What are the implications of the results for environmental management?

OBJECTIVES
These aims and research questions will be addressed using the following objectives:
1. Identify 4 sampling sites on the River Trump in the vicinity of the Trumpton Airport
runoff outfall. One upstream, and three progressively downstream of the outfall.

2. Undertake representative sampling of water and discharge levels over 8 month
period (sample every 14 days).

3. Undertake laboratory analyses of biological and chemical properties of water
samples (N, K, P, Cl, BOD, oil & detergent tests).

4. Survey the biological pollution indicators in the river at these sample points (in
summer).

5. Use appropriate statistical techniques to test the experimental hypotheses that there
is a significant relationship between:
Individual chemical contents of water samples and the distance from the outfall.
Composition of the aquatic flora and fauna and the distance from the outfall.
Individual chemical contents of water samples and composition of the aquatic flora
and fauna.
River discharge and individual chemical contents of water samples.
Season and river water pollution load.

Discuss the factors that are likely to control the observed relationships. Discuss the
results in the context of the environmental impact of Trumpton Airport and company's
environmental mission statement
explanations: looking at pattenrns relatiobships or phenomena.

Exploration: checking out the details of the situation or taking a new snapshot in which you cast a
new light on the situation
Critical description: building and accurate portrayal or profile

The purpose of this dissertation is to present a comprehensive picture of the childrens
book market in Turkey with an emphasis on the role played by childrens books in translation,
and more specifically by books from Great Britain. This paper discusses the recent emergence of
a childrens publishing industry which was primarily made possible thanks to a social and
cultural wake up call. The evolving role of children within the Turkish society and the
development of a reading culture are presented as what triggered of this booming industry. The
main players in the childrens book industry, i.e. publishers and booksellers, are introduced and
the involvement of the State is questioned. This paper also examines how Turkey is trying to
claim a place within the global publishing scene and how childrens books in translation play a
major role in the industry. The influence of translations over the book market is questioned, the
reliance of Turkish publishers on foreign production is assessed, and a case study on books from
Great Britain is presented. It is also the intention of this dissertation to give an insight into what
Turkish publishers expect from childrens books in translation. The way childrens publishers
select foreign books in terms of content and production value is examined and the challenges
related to the publication of translations, such as issues of appropriateness and pre-publication
censorship, are considered. Finally, this paper provides an analysis of the state of the e-book
market in Turkey and evaluates the digital opportunities that are likely to arise in the future in
the Turkish childrens book market.

The main objectives of this dissertation are to present a comprehensive picture of the
childrens book market in Turkey, to discuss its development and question the input of its
different role players. It is also the intention of this dissertation to examine the role of childrens
books in translations, and more particularly of books from Britain, in this emerging market and
to question the role and influence of these translations. Finally, this paper also aims at defining
the Turkish childrens book industry within a digital context and evaluating the digital
opportunities that are likely to arise in the future.

Aim
An intention or aspiration; what you hope to achieve.
Aims are statements of intent, written in broad terms.
Aims set out what you hope to achieve at the end of the project.
Objective
A goal or a step on the way to meeting the aim; how you will achieve it.
Objectives use specific statements which define measurable outcomes. For example: what
steps will you take to achieve the desired outcome?
Objectives should be S.M.A.R.T.:
Specific be precise about what you are going to do
Measureable you will know when you have reached your goal
Achievable Dont attempt too much. A less ambitious but completed objective is better
than an over-ambitious one that you cannot possible achieve.
Realistic do you have the necessary resources to achieve the objective? For example:
time, money, skills, etc?
Time constrained determine when each stage needs to be completed. Is there time in
your schedule to allow for unexpected delays?
"To produce a protocol for measuring operator exposure to vibration from industrial ride-
on lawn mowers"
"To establish the extent to which the 'garbage can' model might influence risk
management decisions in the public sector"
Some courses might require you to break down the overall aim into a set of more specific ones
about what you are aiming to find out. There are usually around 3 - 5 of these more
specific aims stated, but this is not a rule - more or less may be OK, depending on the
circumstances. For example they might relate to
synthesising available literature on your chosen subject to find something out, or
carrying out a series of interviews with a group of people to find something else out,
and so on.
1. Aim

This describe in a general manner what the writer hopes or intends the research will do. It is usually
write as a clear and concise general statement with a focus regarding the topic of the research. The
overall aim of your research should be linked to your research topic and your objectives should
derive
from your aim. You may have more then one aim but usually no more than three.

2. Objectives

Objectives are:
1. Not a repeat of aim, Not vague, Not a list of ideas related to your research topic
2. Steps you are going to take to answer your research questions
3. Detailed ways of carrying out your aim, emphasise how your aim is to be accomplished
4. Specific, precise and measurable statements
5. Must be highly focused and feasible
6. Accurately use concepts and be sensible and precisely described
7. Answer to the phrase: Our Study will be ale to demonstrate, state, identify
8. address the more immediate project outcomes
9. Usually numbered so that each objective reads as an 'individual' statement to convey your
intentions
10. For each specific objective you must have a method to attempt to achieve it.
11. Used to assess if you have meet your aim in the conclusion

3. Final point

Always use a verb (a doing word) when writing research objectives as they focus on the actions
taken
by your research. For instance, you may use verbs such as those in the following list to formulate
your
own objectives:

Analyse Compare Make
Assemble Contrast Maintain
Calculate Change Measure
Clarify Classify Operate
Construct Define Organise
Convert Describe Practise
Create Design Produce
Demonstrate Explore Perform
Estimate Explain Present
Identify Illustrate Repeat
Justify List Show
Review Sketch State
Summarise Select Use
