The Dave Elman Induction (English Original - use this version as basis for other languages)
(get permission to hypnotize & touch prior to start)

Now, take a long deep breath and hold it for a few seconds. As you exhale this breath, allow
your eyes to close and let go of the surface tension in your body. Just let your body relax as
much as possible right now.

Now, place your awareness on your eye muscles and relax the muscles around your eyes to the
point they just won't work. When you're sure they're so relaxed that as long as you hold on to
this relaxation, they just won't work, hold on to that relaxation and test them to make sure THEY
WON'T WORK. (Allow 3 or 4 seconds to test then say). OK, stop testing.

Now, this relaxation you have in your eyes is the same quality of relaxation that I want you to
have throughout your whole body. So, just let this quality of relaxation flow through your whole
body from the top of your head, to the tips of your toes.

Now, we can deepen this relaxation much more. In a moment, I'm going to have you open and
close your eyes. When you close your eyes that's your signal to let this feeling of relaxation
become 10 times deeper. All you have to do is want it to happen and you can make it happen
very easily.

OK, now, open your eyes...now close your eyes and feel that relaxation flowing through your
entire body, taking you much deeper. Use your wonderful imagination and imagine your whole
body is covered and wrapped in a warm blanket of relaxation.

Now, we can deepen this relaxation even more. In a moment, I'm going to have you open and
close your eyes again. When you close your eyes, double the relaxation you now have. Make it
become twice as deep.

OK, now once more, open your eyes...close your eyes and double your relaxation...good. Let
every muscle in your body become so relaxed that as long as you hold on to this quality of
relaxation, every muscle of your body will be loose and limp.

In a moment, I'm going to have you open and close your eyes one more time. Again, when you
close your eyes, increase the relaxation you now have. Make it become even deeper.

OK, now, once more, open your eyes....close your eyes and deepen your relaxation even
further...good, very good. Let every muscle in your body become relaxed.

In a moment, I'm going to lift your {right or left) hand by the wrist, just a few inches, and drop it.
If you have followed my instructions up to this point, that hand will be so relaxed it will be just as
loose and limp as a wet dish rag, and will simply plop down. Now don't try to help me or you
have to remove relaxation. No, let me do all the lifting so that when I release it, it just plops down
and you allow yourself to go much deeper.

me. You'll feel it when you have it. Let your arm be loose and limp."

Now, that's complete physical relaxation. I want you to know that there are two ways a person
can relax. You can relax physically and you can relax mentally. You already proved that you can
relax physically, now let me show you how to relax mentally.

In a moment, I will ask you to begin slowly counting backward, out loud, from 100. Now, here's
the secret to mental relaxation, with each number you say, double your mental relaxation. With
each number you say, let your mind become twice as relaxed. Now if you do this, and by the
time you reach the number 98, or maybe even sooner, your mind will have become so relaxed,
you will have actually relaxed all the rest of the numbers that would have come after 98, right out
of your mind, there just won't be any more numbers.

Now, you have to do this, I can't do it for you. Those numbers will leave if you will them away.
Now start with the idea that you will make that happen and you can easily dispel them from your
mind.

Now, say the first number, 100 and double your mental relaxation.

Client: 100

Hypnotist: Now double that mental relaxation, let them already start to drift away.

Client: 99

Hypnotist: Double your mental relaxation. Start to make them leave.

Client: 98

Hypnotist: Now, let them be gone. Dispel them. Banish them. Make it happen, you can do it, I
can't do it for you. Push them out. Make it happen!

ARE THEY ALL GONE?

Deepening Technique: In a moment I am going to count from 10 down to 1. By 1 or before, you are
even deeper. With every number I say, you allow yourself to go deeper and deeper relaxed. 10, 9, every
time you breath out, you go deeper and deeper relaxed, 8....., 7...., 6......, 5......, letting go, 4....., drifting
deeper and deeper, 3....., 2......, and.....1.

Emerging Technique: "In a moment, I am going to count from 1 to 5. By 5, eyes wide open, feeling
great and fully aware and better than you have all day. 1, take a deep breath, 2...slowly but surely coming
back up to the surface, 3, take another deep breath, feel circulation coming back through your fingers and
toes, 4, and by the next number, eyes open, fully in the present...and...five. Welcome back. You feel
greatdont you!"

Please remember: Proper timing is important, so is training. You should not take longer than 4 - 5
minutes to finish (some languages may take a bit longer). Listen also to the MP3 download for correct
speed, intonation, pauses. The induction is only the part where you get a client into somnambulism (deep
trance). The Dave Elman induction is so much more than just a script. It is a process. Dave Elman also

Many hypnotists think of the Elman induction as a script. This does not reflect its true content.

The Elman induction is to be understood as a process. If you know and understand the process, you will
be able to handle almost any situation during the induction.

Here are the 6 steps that make up the Elman induction:

1. Catalepsy of group of small muscles (such as eyes)
2. Deepening Technique 1
3. Fractionation (10 x deeper, 2 x deeper, even deeper)
4. Catalepsy of larger group of muscles (such as arm)
5. Temporary Amnesia by Suggestion (such as numbers)
6. Deepening Technique 2

Q: What is Project 100! ?

A: 2012 is the year in which we celebrate the centennial of the beginnings of the Dave Elman
Induction. Dave Elman began at age 12 to develop this efficient hypnosis induction.
Dave Elman (1900 - 1967) was a natural talent and instructed thousands of doctors, dentists, and
psychiatrists in his efficient methods.

Project 100! wants to honour his achievements by providing his hypnosis induction in at least 100
different languages by the end of 2012. Our goal is to make his hypnosis induction the standard
induction for any serious hypnotist or hypnotherapist.
85% and more of all people hypnotized by this method go into hypnosis the first time. The better
you know and perform the Elman induction, the higher your rate of success. Learn it, practice it,
become great at it!

Q: I know a language fluently. Can I participate by translating the Elman Induction?

A: Great! First make sure that this language still has not been translated yet. Then let us know in
what language you intend to translate the Elman induction to. Then send your language version
to the following email address: project100@daveelman.net (.doc (Word) and .pdf format or
plain email text and .mp3)

Please tell us what language it is and also, if possible, provide us with an MP3 file, where you
have recorded the Elman induction in your own language...you obviously should be fluent and
without an accent. Please check our website for updates about languages already translated.

You should be already trained in the Elman induction and really also know the finer points of the
language you are going to translate it in. It is not just a word by word translation. It is important
that little subtleties of the English version are included in your own language. A word by word
translation cannot translate the spirit of the Elman induction. Use local language and hypnosis
knowledge to give it the wider sense and deeper understanding. Do not use online translators. It
simply will not work and sound plain wrong.
