Fundamentals of Computer Networks ( CISCO )
Discuss the basic LAN devices and the evolution of networking devices.
Discuss LAN media and the IEEE model as well as on how data link layer provides
reliable transit of data across a physical link by using the Media Access Control
(MAC) addresses.
Describe IP addressing and the three classes of networks in IP addressing schemes.
Explains the primary functions that occur at the transport layer.
Demonstrate IP addressing and Routing
Describe how the session layer coordinates service requests and responses.
Discuss how the presentation layer provides code formatting and conversion, which
is used to make sure that applications have meaningful information to process.
Explain the basics of the Application layer.
Identify WAN devices, technologies, and standards.
Course Syllabus
FUNDNET
This course familiarizes the students with the basic concepts of internetworking:
discussion of the OSI reference model, concepts and theories behind computer
networks, concepts and application of TCP/IP, IP Addressing, and Routing Protocols,
troubleshooting techniques in solving network problems, network cabling that conforms to
the structured cabling standard, and concepts and theories behind router components
(hardware and software), router setup and configurations.
