The highlight of last two weeks were really Pakistani mangoes which created a sudden enthusiasm among Pakistani community all over Australia and the common feeling was as if celebrating Eid before Eid. These feelings were however saddened by the sudden demise of young Pakistani boy in Melbourne during Skiing holiday. The whole community shared their grief. In this issue we are also presenting a profile of Child Health and Education Foundation in Pakistan if you are looking for right use of your Zakat. PAKISTANI COMMUNITY CONDEMNS We are in receipt of an email related to a Perth based group which is circulating the following message. At the moment the Stop the Mosque group and their supporters are posting very vile stuff about Islam to that page. If any of you want to respond to them fell free to do so. Go to Facebook and search for XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, like the page and respond as you desire. We have consulted our members and Pakistani community has unanimously rejected any such actions. Some of the comments received are; I dont think it makes sense to like their page... the ppl on that page are not asking for their misconceptions about islam to be cleared, rather looking for a heated argument LIke the page ?? if you don't agree with the content of some page and if its hate speech just report it to Facebook administration, getting into debates on such pages is like highlighting an issue which should be discouraged This is literally a sensitive matter and shouldn't be dealt on social media. 2nd they people are not there for reasoning; anything could trigger unnecessary debates. On June 23 rd we did receive a complaint by one of our community member regarding a hate flyer being displayed in a laundry at Bassendean which was reported and both State Security and WA Police immediately took action which is an assurance that the relevant departments are trying their best to maintain peace and harmony among West Australians. IFTAR AT PARLIAMENT HOUSE An invitation has been received to attend Iftar at Parliament house. ECCWA MEENA BAZAAR Ethnic Communities Council of Western Australia will be holding a Meena Bazaar in first week of November which will also include workshops on maintaining small businesses and performances by different groups. It will be a very good opportunity for Pakistani ladies to participate and as PIA is a member of ECCWA we will be able to offer free stalls to our members. SENIORS WEEK EVENT Once again we are getting ready for the Seniors event and expect to have an event on 15 th November this year so mark your diaries now. This is a fortnightly newsletter to keep community informed of whats happening in Pakistan and in Australia with a special focus on Western Australia at this time. We acknowledge that this newsletter is disseminated from Noongar land.
