A seismic detonator is an integrated system

composed of the following:
Aluminum or copper cylinder containing
a high brisance explosive, a primary
charge and a bridge wire. The bridge
wire is connected to the leg-wires which
pass through a sealed plug, and are
protected by a semi-conductive plastic
coating.

length.
The bridge wire heats on the passing of
sufficient current, initiating the primary
charge and finally the secondary charge.
The secondary (base) charge initiates the
detonator sensitive primer.
One of the main features of this particular
accessory is an extremely fast initiation
time, which is very important for seismic
applications. On average, this is less than
one millisecond between the moment
when the current is delivered and full
detonation.
El detonador sismogrfico es un sistema
integrado compuesto por los siguientes
elementos:
Cpsula de aluminio que contiene una carga
secundaria de un explosivo brisante, la
carga primaria, y la gota elctrica; la cual
est unida a los alambres conductores de
energa elctrica pasan a travs de un
sellado protegidos por un plstico
semiconductor.
Etiquetas que indican su caracterstica y la
longitud de los alambres conductores.
Al paso de suficiente corriente, la gota elctrica
se calienta y activa a la carga primaria que a
su vez inicia la carga secundaria, la cual
activar a las cargas explosivas sensibles al
detonador.
Su caracterstica principal es un iniciador
electro pirotcnico ultra rpido, con un tiempo
promedio inferior a un milisegundo entre el
momento en que se entrega la energa
elctrica y el instante en que se produce la
detonacin, lo cual es muy importante para
operaciones ssmicas.
