2. differentiate speed from velocity;
3. calculate speed and velocity; and
4. relate the importance of speed and velocity in our lives.

Class, in the illustration I have given you a
while ago. What comes up to your mind?

Very good. How can you say that a certain
object is in motion? An object is moving when a change of
position id observed.
That’s right. From the illustration a have
given you, what do you call of the first
position of the ball?
Frame of reference (starting point)
Very good. All movement, then, is described
relative to a particular frame of reference.

Now, class, what is motion?

That’s right. What are the factors that you
take into consideration in describing a
motion?
Is there any displacement there?
Motion is a change in position of an object
in a certain amount of time.
Frame of reference, distance, time, and
direction of motion.

do you describe?

run a 100m dash, one may finish in shorter
time while the other in longer time. What

Displacement involves both the amount of
distance traveled and the direction of
motion.

expressions of speed? Speed is the rate at which an object moves.

the concept of motion in our lives? Cite

It helps us to value our time. Examples of
this are in going to school, and in any
other activities that relate to speed such as
traveling, cooking, and etc.

afternoon, how do you describe that a
certain object is in motion?
An object is in motion, when there is a
change in position. It also involves the rate
of motion, distance, time and the direction
of motion.

speed and velocity? velocity is the speed with direction.
