primar% purpose is to assist engineers and designers speciali&ing in engine
installations. The !ngine !lectrical Applications and 'nstallation (uide) !ngine
Application and 'nstallation (uide) and !ngine Data *heets complement this
+oo,let.

aftertreatments are revised, improved and required for emission reduction
standards.

The !-haust *%stem and Cat C!" are an integral part o Caterpillar.s !/A Tier

Cat CEM dentification

Caterpillar 3ill provide AutoCdetection to ensure the proper Cat C!" is itted to
the proper engine. The engine 3ill identi% the C!" and allo3 proper operation o
the engine and atertreatment s%stem. @ailure to detect proper C!" 3ill result in
100D derated engine perormance.

The Caterpillar Clean !missions "odule 3ill +e stamped 3ith a Caterpillar part

Pressurized Air and Water

/ressuri&ed air and5or 3ater can cause de+ris and5or hot 3ater to +e
+lo3n out. This could result in personal inHur%. Al3a%s 3ear a protective ace
shield) protective clothing) and protective shoes 3hen cleaning components. The
ma-imum air pressure or cleaning purposes must +e reduced to 205 ,/a #30
psi$ 3hen the air no&&le is deadheaded and used 3ith eective chip guarding #i
applica+le$ and personal protective e6uipment. The ma-imum 3ater pressure or
cleaning purposes must +e +elo3 2F5 ,/a #40 psi$.

High Pressure Wash

Aotice@ 4ighCpressure 3ash s%stems) including high pressure spra% 3ashers
and 3ater cannons) are no3 in re6uent use +% maintenance people. Connector
seals 3ill ail 3hen hit directl% 3ith high pressure spra%. "an% connection
s%stems have adapters availa+le that can +e attached to the +ac, o the
connector to protect the 3ire seals rom direct high pressure 3ash. 13ere direct
e<posure to 3i,3 pressure 7as3 s'stems cannot #e a%oided t3en
protecti%e s3ields 7ill need to #e desi,ned and installed) @or the +eneit o
service) connectors should +e placed in accessi+le locations.

/ainting o Caterpillar C!" is A5" recommended and strongl% discouraged.
*ome components s,in temperatures on the C!" can get to as high as 525
degrees Celsius during operation and 3ill cause charring or +urning o the paint.

Cleanliness

Air lines) @uel lines) coolant lines and oil lines that connect to the C!" or engine
should meet Caterpillar cleanliness speciication contained in AJ' (uide
;!18001I.

Replacement Parts

8hen replacement parts are re6uired or this product) Caterpillar recommends
using Caterpillar replacement parts or parts 3ith e6uivalent speciications
including) +ut not limited to) ph%sical dimensions) t%pe) strength) and material.

This 'nstallation (uide is intended or use or engines that must compl% 3ith Tier
4 or '"0 ''' emission re6uirements. /roper luids must +e used to meet these

or the Caterpillar engine model +eing installed or the proper uel) lu+ricants) and
coolants that are to +e used. The proper uels) lu+ricants and coolants must +e

!/A recogni&es that it is unsae and unaccepta+le to signiicantl% derate or shut
do3n a marine engine or an atertreatment ailure. *o in the !/A regulations 40
C@: 1042 does not re6uire engine derates or shutdo3ns. To ans3er this issue
in the engine control panels a recorder o certain aults 3ill +e recorded and
stored. ' this ault codes are logged on the recorder than the customer has 30
da% to inorm the !/A on 3hat cause the recorder to recorder the one o those
critical codes.

Caterpillar 3ill provide an A5E2 recorder !C" 3hich 3ill record the re6uired
codes in in nonCvolatile memor%. 't then 3ill +e the end user responsi+le to

The ideal location o the A?*5D!@ tan, is as close as possi+le to the center o
gravit% o the Nessel. This 3ould result in the least sloshing possi+le. /ro-imit%
to heat sources should also +e considered in tan, placement) as prolonged
e-posure to elevated temperatures causes thermal degradation o A?* 5 D!@ in
the tan,. The tan, should +e located in the Nessel 3here the tan, temperatures
3ill not ree&e and not e-ceed the high temperature re6uirements or proper
storage. The proper storage temperature range or A?*5D!@ is +et3een 15W@
and FFW@ #CIWC and 25WC$ that is stored a+ove the I5W@ #35WC$ or longer than
one month must +e tested to ma,e sure 6ualit% is not degrading and A?*5D!@

The dosing pump re6uires 120N AC po3er to operate. The connection or the
po3er is made inside the dosing ca+inet on a +us +ar 3ith the ca+le routing
through a 3iring grommet on the dosing ca+inet. The hot and neutral 3ire coming
into the ca+inet 3ill hoo, to the terminal strip connectors. Then the ground 3ire
needs to +e hoo,ed up to the grounding stud. This 3ill allo3 the dosing ca+inet
