Please write on a separate cover page: Public Health Topic - title, your name, ID, class,
year, your instructors name
Length of writing: total 3 pages, single spaced or total 6 pages, double spaced. Cover
page and references page is in addition to the writing length requirement.
Please organize the paper into three sections with the following titles:
Public Health problem, How to Solve the PH problem, and Public Health in the Future.

Correct spelling and grammar, 12 pt. font, Times New Roman, with 1 inch margins on
each side, top and bottom.

link on the class website for Pub Med which is a search engine that can be used to find
peer reviewed journal articles on your topic. If you need help finding references please
see the instructor or a TA during office hours. Additional references are optional as are
additional references from reliable sources such as NIH, CDC, and health organizations
such as the American Diabetes Association websites which are not considered peer
reviewed journal article sources. APA style only for in-text citations and the references
page! Please see the link on the class website for APA OWL which is a resource for the
APA style. Also, please attend the class lecture on the in-text citations and references
to know what is expected.

Please include: #1: why is the problem in the society? #2: how this happen, why did
this happen, etc. #3: What are the risks for the community in the future #4: What
are/were the etiological risk factors?
This section is to be one full single-spaced page or two full double-spaced pages. Each
point (1-4) should be equal in length and about 1 paragraph long.

1) Why does the problem exist in the society? (8)
2) How did the problem happen? Why did it happen? Where did it happen? (8)
3) What are the risks for the community in the future? (8)

2) Add examples from other cultures, countries/ or from history to strengthen your
discussion (10)

Public Health in the Future:
How to prevent the PH problem
#1 Conclusion with justification from research literature means at least one in-text
citation from a peer reviewed journal and please write one full-paragraph that includes
5 sentences at least.
#2: Comparison with other nations, or other situations, or with the history etc. or you
may add your own experience with the problem
#3: Your OPINION on the prevention of this specific PH problem in the future.
This section is to be one full single-spaced page or two full double-spaced pages. Each
point (1-3) should be equal in length and about 1-2 paragraphs long.
40 points

Paper includes discussion of how to prevent PH problem (10)
Paper includes the following:
1) Conclusion with justification from the literature about what should be done to
prevent the PH problem or to prevent reoccurrence of the PH problem (10)
2) Comparison with other nations, with other situations, or with history, etc. OR add
your own experience with the problem (10)
3) Your opinion on the prevention of this PH problem in the future (10)

Guidelines and Rubric for Presentation Summer 2014

PRESENTATION. Total = 150 points
Sign-up for a group on the Google Doc and decide on a topic from the list of group presentation topics by June 27
th
at 5 PM. List the topic letter

1. Official Introduction to the topic. Introduce
yourself and each member of your group.

2. Present your knowledge about the topic from
different sources. Give examples.

3. Prepare 2 questions (one multiple choice and one
True/False) with answers ( write it on your power
points presentation).

4. Individual responsibility: Show up to all scheduled
group meetings. If unable to make it, contact group
leader in writing within 24 hours and make
arrangements to fulfill responsibilities. Submit work
on-time to group leader.
