Best Health Care Jobs: Registered Nurse
Upon my review of an article found on USNews.com titled Best Health Care Jobs. I find that it
provided much insight on job market, salary data, training, and job search advice. The article
states that Tthis growing community of about 2.6 million Registered Nurses is steadily
expanding into a host of specialized jobs. Usually, there are four main areas in which RNs
specialize:.
1. Offering care for a specific health condition (such as diabetes or cancer),
2. A specific part of the body (such as a dermatology nurse or cardiovascular nurse),
3. A group of people (such as premature babies or the elderly)
4. A particular type of environment (such as an emergency room or school) (U.S. News &
World Report LP. (2014)). Dont use such long quotes. Summarize in your words.
This article also lists Tthree different categories of nurses, each of which are expected to add
new positions to triage care for the aging population as well as for the expanded number of
Americans who now have access to health insurance due to the Affordable Care Act.
1. Nurse Practitioner
2. Licensed Practical Nurses
3. Licensed Vocational Nurses (U.S. News & World Report LP. (2014)). Where is 4?

5. In regards to Registered Nurses, the article states that Tthe Bureau of Labor Statistics
anticipates 19.4 percent employment growth and 526,800 brand new jobs between 2012
and 2022. This tremendous growth, when compounded by a low unemployment rate, just
2.6 percent, and good job prospects, helped registered nurse secure the No. 6 slot on our
Best Jobs list. (U.S. News & World Report LP. (2014)).

Salary
According to reports outlined in this article, Rregistered nurses made an average salary of
$67,930 in 2012. (U.S. News & World Report LP. (2014)). Thats comparable to the pay of
an occupational therapist, but less than what a physical therapist makes. Nurse practitioners
usually make more money. In 2012, they earned an average salary of $91,450 while licensed
practical and vocational nurses usually make less (about $42,400). (U.S. News & World Report
LP. (2014)).
The best paid Nursing professionals work in these metropolitan areas:
San Jose, Calif.: Average Salary: $122,990
Vallejo, Calif.: Average Salary: $119,310
Oakland, Calif.: Average Salary: $113,520
Sacramento, Calif.: Average Salary: $110,630
Sacramento, Calif.: Average Salary: $110,630 (U.S. News & World Report LP. (2014)).
Training
At a minimum, an entry-level nursing job requires a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, an
Aassociates degree or a diploma program administered in a hospital. The two-year Aassociates
degree can be a quicker and more economical route, but many graduates of associates programs

eventually aim to complete a bachelors degree for a more comprehensive nursing education, and
the bachelors degree is fast becoming the industry standard. For those who have already earned
a bachelors degree in a different field, accelerated B.S.N. degree programs can take 12 to 18
months. Students must also pass a national licensing examination known as the National Council
Licensure Examination, and may have to meet other requirements that vary by state. Many
nurses choose to pursue masters degrees in advanced-practice nursing specialties, such as a
nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist. (U.S. News & World Report LP. (2014)).
Cedra, Not a bad article but you just put down a bunch of direct quotes. Cutting and pasting info
will make it hard to succeed in a Bachelors program where they want your thoughts not other
peoples.
Redo this summarized in your own words. It does not have to be near long either. 200 words.
