The Center for Liver and Hepatobiliary Disease at St, Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center (SJHMC) in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a board certified or eligible Liver Transplant Hepatologist.
The Center for Liver and Hepatobiliary Disease at St. Josephs Hospital & Medical Center (SJHMC) in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a board certified or eligible Liver Transplant Hepatologist or person with similar training in viral hepatitis and acute and chronic liver disease to add to our team. This physician will work daily with an interdisciplinary team, including three board certified transplant hepatologists, subspecialty hospitalists, two experienced hepatology nurse practitioners and a full-time hepatitis as well as a hepatology nurse and a transplant nurse coordinator. The Center is actively involved in the care of patients with all stages of liver disease with a particular emphasis on the continuum of liver disease management. We are involved in a major teleconferencing initiative to support Hepatitis C treatment in rural and underserved areas and have been awarded grants from CDC and other sources. Significant research opportunities may be available through our affiliation with our University Partners. We also anticipate being very active with clinical research trials and anticipate starting liver transplantation at our center by January 2015.
An ideal candidate will be board certified in transplant hepatology or an internal medicine subspecialty with 3-7 years of experience in viral hepatitis and/or chronic liver disease, but consideration will be given to board certified or board eligible candidates. In addition to clinical care, this physician will participate in education with eligibility for academic appointments at two affiliated medical schools. SJHMC is the medical school regional campus for Creighton University School of Medicine offering clinical clerkships to both 3 rd and 4 th year medical students. Our faculty provides clinical services, has a pivotal role in teaching and serves in research and leadership roles.
