Vicki Good, RN, MSN, CENP,
serves a one-year term as president on the
American Association of Critical-Care Nurses
(AACN) board of directors from July 1, 2013, to
June 30, 2014.
Good previously served on the
AACN board from 2008-2011, acting as treasurer
during 2009-2010.
As administrative director of patient
safety for CoxHealth in Springfield, MO., she
conceptualizes and develops various safety
programs, including the patient safety, medication
safety, and infection prevention offices.
Recently, Good was named one of
the 50 Experts Leading in the Field of Patient
Safety by Beckerss Hospital Review, a leading
publication for healthcare executives.
Having previously held management
positions in critical care, patient safety and
education at Baylor Health Care System in Dallas
and Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort
Worth, Texas, Good also has supervised students
in the adult critical care clinical rotation as
adjunct faculty at Texas Christian University,
where she earned a Bachelor of Science on
nursing in 1989.
Her alma mater honored her in 2006
with the Harris College of Nursing Alumni of the
Year award. She earned a Master of Science in
nursing with a nursing leadership concentration in
1999 from Seattle Pacific University.
An AACN ambassador since 2001,
Good also served on the AACN Nominating
Committee in 2008-2009, as Chapter Advisory
Team board liaison in 2009-2010, on the
Evidence-based Poster Abstract Review Panel in
2007-2008 and as board liaison for the
Ambassador Summit during 2010-2011.
Good writes and presents on a variety
of topics including patient safety and
communication and has edited and authored for
many AACN publications.

Melissa Fitzpatrick has held a variety
of nursing and healthcare leadership roles
including Vice President of Critical Care and
Cardiac Services at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock
Medical Center and Senior Associate Chief
Operating Officer and Chief Nurse Executive at
Duke University Medical Center. Melissa also
served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Nursing
Management Journal and then as the Chief
Healthcare Strategist at the SAS Institute. Melissa
joined Hill-Rom in 2007 as the first ever Vice
President and Chief Clinical Officer. She provides
domain expertise, thought leadership and clinical
guidance to the teams at Hill-Rom as they work
to achieve the vision of enhancing outcomes for
patients and their caregivers. Melissa serves as a
mentor and role model to the hundreds of
clinicians across Hill-Rom and works closely with
customers to improve clinical and operational
outcomes and to reduce preventable adverse
events.
Melissa earned her B.S.N. at
Gwynedd-Mercy College and her M.S.N. at the
University of Pennsylvania. She is a nationally
and internationally recognized consultant,
speaker and author on clinical and leadership
issues in healthcare, with many peer reviewed
publications and book chapters to her credit.
Melissa is a past President of the American
Association of Critical-Care Nurses and the
Foundation for Critical Care. She was inducted as
a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing in
1997 and she was the Distinguished Alumna at
the Univ. of Pennsylvania in 2010. Melissa was
featured on the cover of the February 2012 issue
of Nurse Leader with an extensive interview as an
AONE Leader to Watch. She lives in Chapel Hill,
North Carolina with her husband, Tom, and their
two sons, Brian (19) and Jordan (16).
