Introduction
La Prenza Dam, the main fo,us of this -ro-osal, has been used as
irri.ation for the water that flows dire,tl# from mountain ran.e of &ierra Madre to
su--ort not onl# for the town of Marilao but also for the ad*a,ent towns of $o,aue and
&ta. Maria. "t has also served as a re,reational and fishin. site even to nearb#
,ommoners. A lot of stories of love had also ha--ened in this -la,e/ but a lot of lives

"t is also a ,ombination of a .ravit#3t#-e dam and a s-illwa#. Gravit# dams

desi.ned to ,ontrol the flow throu.h the s-illwa#.
A da is a barrier that im-ounds water or under.round streams. Dams
.enerall# serve the -rimar# -ur-ose of retainin. water, while other stru,tures su,h
as flood.ates or levees 5also +nown as di+es6 are used to mana.e or -revent water flow
into s-e,ifi, land re.ions. 7#dro-ower and -um-ed3stora.e h#droele,tri,it# are often
