Title: Cracker Cooling Fin Fan Support Structure - Condition Assessment
The Customer Location Refinery is evaluating the cost of carrying out a Condition Assessment of the Cracker Cooling Fin
Fan support steelwork. The support structure is 4 stories high, and has a plan area of approximately 35m x 15m (525m2 per
level).
Scope:
This CTR sheet is for the Structural Engineering services to carry-out the following:
a) The survey will comprise of a non-destructive walkthrough visual survey of the building and suroundings, readily
accesible on foot.
b) Compile Structural Survey report, documenting the damage, defect & deterioration identified during the survey, a Risk
Assessment carried-out on each defect, and a recommended Risk Response.
Important Note:
Following on from the Walk-through visual survey, will be recommendations or Immediate Actions, depending on the nature of the
observation.
Typical recommendations include ultrasonic testing of welds to confirm integrity, thickness testing of corroded plates and sections,
comments on whether to restrict access in an area, recommendations on whether to carry-out physical rectification work etc.
Applicable References: (International/National Regulations, Standards, Codes of Practice, Guidelines etc)

2) NCC 2012 (formerly BCA)
3) AS 1170 (Parts 0, 1, 2 & 4)
4) AS 4100 - Steel Structures
5) AS ISO 13822 - Assessment of Existing Structures
Inputs:
1) All existing documents & detail drawings of the Cracker Cooler Fin Fan support structure, existing services and any plant
located within the area.
2) Existing 3D Model (in Autocad or PDMS format) of the structure, if available.
3) Risk Assessment Matrix and Risk Categories for Customer Location Refinery
Assumptions:
1) The Survey will take one day.
2) The customer will provide any required site supervision.
3) NO working from heights required.
4) All necessary permits will be arranged by the Customer (Camera use necessary).
5) As site services will not be isolated, a risk assessment will be performed and plan established for how to execute the survey safely
6) The proposed surveys will be non-destructive with observations based on walkthrough. No specific access equipment
(ladders,EWP's etc) are envisaged. Any special PEP (Gas masks, chemical suits etc) will be provided by the customer.
