Customer is a leading international financial services company with business
spanning across US, Europe and Asia.
Business Objectives
The Finance ! "rogram was conceived to give Finance department and its#
customers a rich, robust and fle$ible ! platform. !t will deliver full E$pense, Sales
and "rofit reporting across all functions and sales channels. The entire program was
delivered in two phases.
The ob%ectives of Phase 1 implementation were to&
Create a ! database using strategic tools that can be the basis for the U' !
database for the entire organi(ation. This ! database will be integrated with the
new )udgeting system.
!mplement the strategic )usiness *b%ects infrastructure for reporting + analysis
!mplement the Adaytum technical infrastructure, and support the design and
implementation of Adaytum "lanning ,, for budgeting, planning and forecasting
-evelop a streamlined company wide .eb based )udgeting and Forecasting
process for E$penses and Sales
-evelop )usiness ob%ects universe and reporting platform for user data needs for
E$penses, Sales and other financial indicators
"rovide analytics on E$penses, )udget and Forecast figures by e$tracting the
data from sources of "eoplesoft and Flat files, integrating and loading into the
E-.
"rovide analytics on Assets, "ayments, /ouchers and *rders anagement
0enerate monthly reports from )usiness *b%ects for the corporate users from the
E-. thereby eliminating manual procedures
The ob%ectives of Phase 2 Implementation are&
!ntegrating all the sales data from multiple channels into the Enterprise -ata

-ecommission the systems that are presently doing the sales reporting, and
thereby reducing the maintenance costs and unreliable data

!n the current phase, the budget and forecast figures will come from Cognos
Analysis Services and not from "eoplesoft+flat files
Sales actuals data from mainframe engines for different channels of ):), -:C

Sales plan figures from user maintained spreadsheets
Annuity sales figures for various channels from *racle ;i database

Support and aintenance
"rovide ade3uate support to the Customer )! Support team in order to have
smooth handover from warranty phase to support phase.
Major Highlights
The pro%ect was successfully delivered at a reduced cost and earlier than
schedule. "hase : was delivered , months ahead of planned schedule and net
cost saving to the Customer was in the range of <=:>' 9 <=?>'.
ore than a hundred users from Finance @ U' team who are involved in Sales
"lanning, Trac2ing and Analysis activities were able to access the Actuals, )udget
and Forecast figures on the intranet via )usiness *b%ects reports and could derive
benefits. The earlier manual process of viewing and comparing the figures in
spreadsheets was done away with.
Users were also provided with analytics on Assets, "ayments, "urchase *rders
which were not efficiently analy(ed before.
onthly statistics were generated using the data in E-. through )usiness
*b%ects reports. There were : )usiness *b%ects Universes and :A )usiness
ob%ects reports.
The data was consistent and was the single version of truth, thereby simplifying
the auditing process for e$penses and plan figures much simpler.

applying different business rules for different scenarios.
