Logos
Description: Tree diferent variations of a logo for one company.
Date: June 7, 2014
Course/Instructor: Comm 130, Section 4. Brother Kerr.

Programs/tools: Adobe Illustrator
Objective: Making three logos that are all diferent variations for the
same company using the skills I learned in Adobe Illustrator.
Process: My process was a very long one. When I started sketching
nothing even looked like what I wanted to make for a logo. I think I did
about 15 sketches for just one logo. It took me a while just to make the
decision about what I wanted my company to be. When I decided that
I wanted to use cake baby as my company I went in and got a picture of
a cupcake of of google images so I could have something to go of of.
I used the pencil tool to make the pink and purple cupcakes. I also use
the shape tool and the pencil tool to make the cupcake top of the mid-
dle logo. Te fonts are all just fonts that I found on illustrator.
Montage
Description: An inspirational montage using two or more images, and
the use of typography.
Date: May 31, 2014
Course/Instructor: Comm 130, Secion 4. Brother Kerr
Programs/tools: Adobe Photoshop
Objective: To take two or more pictures and make them beautiful. Try
to get an inspirational message out of the design as well.
Process: My process was very long and difcult. I decided that I di not
like a frst draf that I had so I changed it up. I thought of something
that means a lot to me. I am an American who has a lot of family in
and retired from the military. Te United States of America seemed like
the best choice. I found this picture and thought it would go perfectly
with my design. I also found this wood texture and thought it would go
really well. So I went into photshop and darkened it a bit. I put the other
picture on top and brightened it along with making it a bit transparent. I
also blended the two together to make it look a bit more cohesive. I also
thought red and white would be a good choice to make the words stand
out a bit so I used just color blocks to make the striped on teh bottom
and blended those into the texture as well.
Webpage
Description:
A webpage to show one of the logos we previously made.
Date:

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130, section 4.
Brother Kerr.
Programs/tools:
Text Wrangler and Adobe Photshop.
Objective:
To create an original webpage using one of our previous logos that we
made as well as learning how to code a webpage.

Process:
I am absolutely amazed at just how difcult this was. I frst had to
choose which logo I wanted to use and decided on my very favorite. I
also decided that I wanted it to stay really girly. Afer I chose the logo I
opened it in Photoshop and cut out all of the background so I could use
it as its own image without a big white square behind it. Afer I saved
that as a JPEG, I opened it in Illustrator and saved it as a PNG. Ten I
was able to imbed it into my code. I used the last html fle that we used
on a previous activity and changed a couple things. I also used the pre
made CSS fle that we were given and linked the two together. I then
went through and changed the colors and the fonts. I used more than
one font on each heading and paragraph just in case the computer that
a reader was using didnt have the font that I chose. Afer I fnally got all
that taken care of I made sure that all of my fonts and colors and bor-
ders were all in place.

Programs/tools:
Adobe Indeisgn

Objective:
To make apply correct design skills that we had learned up to that point.
To use typefaces the correct way.
Process:
Well I frst started with sketching my design just on normal copy paper.
I asked a couple of friends what they thought of them and which one I
should go with for my design. Once I decided on a design I started with
what I wanted to be the main focal point. Te word graduate is what
I wanted the focal point to be. so I made a text box and turned it on
its side so it was vertical. I also made two black rectangles on opposite
diagonal corners of one another for contrast and diagonal balancing.
Ten I placed my image and another text box for the body type. I chose
fonts according to what I thought would look best. I changed part of the
title reading leadership conference to a grey color for more contrast. I
aligned those words with the image and the body text so it would look
aligned as well as using repetition.

Objective:

create a Letterhead using an original logo that we made.
Process:
My process in making my stationary and business cards were very
difcult. I found it almost impossible to think of an idea. I decided what
idea I wanted to go with frst. I wanted to do something with fairy tales.
I love the way that the tower turned out. I tried to make that tower over
30 times. I used Illustrator to make the tower because the shapes were
all really simple. I used complementary color schemes as well with the
yellow hair and purple tower.

brochure using difernt color schemes and themes.
Process:
First I thought if the kind of company that I wanted to represent. Ten I
decided on a color scheme which would be a tertiary color scheme with
the greenish blue and the yellow. I thought It looked happier and bright.
A color scheme that would make you want to smile. Because I decided
on a dentists ofce. I thought something that would make you smile.
Ten I decided on where I would put the fold. I decided on something
simple because I wanted it to be something that was easy and nice.
Nothing too big and fancy. I used in design and illustrator for most of

Imaging

A piece of original photography and using photoshop to edit and format
it.

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130, section 4.
Brother Kerr

Programs/tools:
Adobe Photshop and a Canon DSLR.
Objective: Use the skills we learned to take a picture using all of the
rukes and guidelines as well as using the skills we learned to to format
and edit said photo.
Process: What I did was make a draf with some pictures I took during
the day. I made the draf and got some critiques but in the end I ended
up taking more pictures because the message I wanted to send was a bit
darker and not as bright and happy as a lot of others that I have seen.
So when I had that idea I decided to take my roommate and dress her
in a lot of black. I fnally got the picture I wanted so I got to the spori
to edit my picture. I decided to put more shadows in and to darken the
lighting a bit. I also wanted to move her over so I generated some pixels
to make the picture a bit bigger. I wanted to add some lyrics from a song
to get the message I wanted across. I chose a monochromatic red color
scheme. I wanted to choose monochromatic because I didnt want too
much color in it.

Programs/tools:
Microsof word
Objective:
To use the skills we learned to use only microsof word to take a picture
that was original or from a book or a magazine to make a full bleed
advertisement for an event.
Process:
I found a picture online of boots. I changed the pixels and inches of the
picture. I then printed it on a color printer so I could re scan it into the
computer. Once it was scanned into the computer I decided that since
it was for a military charity I didnt want it to be transparent. I wanted
the colors to be strong and deep. I put my words for the charity and the
date and time and setting. You couldnt really see them so I took For-
rest green colors to go along with my military vibe. I chose a font that
almost looked like a typewriter that contrasted well with the colors. I
actually learned a lot about Microsof and all the little things it can do.
I am also really thankful for the other programs we can use. Programs
I used: Microsof Word, Scanner in the Library, PDF2JPG.net (PDF
converter).
