Kudler Fine Foods Network: Final

University of Phoenix

Network Deployment/Timeline
The new network roll out for Kudler Fine Foods will not take place overnight. The
ability to keep Kudler in operation is very important to the owners and is why implementation
will take place in three phases. The one important factor of this build out is the documentation
that will be taken at each phase. This information will be used to provide vital network
information and proper network install accreditation for the client. The first phase will be the
installation of the network. Phase two will cover all the testing and security checks needed. The
third phase of this roll out will included the observation of the network when it goes live, the
removal of the old network, and the pass down of all documentation to the owners and
networking teams.
In the first phase of this project the Del Mar site will be the first store to be upgraded
because it will become the backbone to the entire operation. This site will contain the POS
server, inventory data base, File integrity checker, security console for monitoring and the T1
line. The completion for the Del Mar site will take 5 weeks. Once this site has been completed
the La Jolla site will begin. The integration for this site is expected to go smoothly, but with all
of the unknowns that can factor in, the expected completion time for this site will be five weeks
as well. The lessons learned from this install should make the installation at the Encinitas site go
much smoother and will take three weeks to install.
Once all sites have been completed phase two will begin. This is the network testing
phase and will take three weeks to complete. For the first week of this phase load and speed
testing of the network will be conducted. This will help detect and solve any lagging, latency, or
jitter that may be on the network and will increase the speed and performance as well. The
second week of this phase will cover pen testing and security hardening of the new network. This
will prevent any security holes from being left opened. Any discrepancies that are discovered
must be fixed by the end of the second week. Week three will be for retesting of any
discrepancies found in the week prior and will provide the time needed to fine tune all firewall
and IPS/IDS rules. This is a very critical phase of the project and everything must check out
before moving on to the last phase.
Phase three of the network rollout will be taking the network live. This will be a four
week phase and will make sure everything is working at 100% normal. The first three weeks will
be checking to make sure that all systems are updating and working together as designed. Once
everything checks out the removal of the old network will be completed. The last and final piece
to this project is the passed down of all documentation that was gathered during the build out.
This is important information that will provide all network layout designs and will show proof
for the proper installation of the net network.
