12, as well as all adults. Teams in the grade 1 through 8 division category must
be accompanied by an adult at all times during the tournament.

4. Which team receives the ball first: A coin toss prior to each game will
determine which team gets the ball out-of-bounds first.

primarily entering grades 1 through 4: 9 feet Boys 4

finals brackets. For all other brackets, the participating players will call their own
fouls. More specifically, the player that was fouled will call the foul. All called
fouls shall result in one free throw shot, unless the field goal is made, in which
case the basket counts and no free throw shot is awarded. Officiated courts will
count the shot if made plus a free-throw will be awarded to the fouled individual.
Shooting fouls behind the 3-point line will result in 2 free-throws. No formal line-
up around the key will be necessary since a change of possession will result
regardless of whether the free throw shot is made or missed (please refer to rules
9A and 9B for exceptions to this rule). After a foul shot, the ball will be placed
into play from the back end line of the court (referred to as the back-court line).

ALL FOULS will result in free-throw(s) including game point. The Court
Monitor / Marshal has the right to overrule a foul or call a game if a team is
using fouls for team gain on a consistent basis

(A) Intentional fouls: An intentional foul is a foul designed to neutralize an
opponents advantage position. It is a foul which, based on the monitors
observation of the act, is not a legitimate attempt to directly play the ball.
A foul shall also be ruled intentional, based on the monitors observation
of the act, if while attempting to play the ball, a player causes excessive
contact. It can also be an unsportsmanlike act such as taunting,
baiting or trash talking. Taunting and baiting can involve derogatory
remarks or gestures which incite or insult an opponent. Trash talk
involves a deeply personal, verbal attack directed towards any person
involved in the event. The court monitor, marshal and/or tournament
officials decision is final.
(B) Flagrant fouls: A flagrant foul may be of a violent or savage nature, or
an act which displays unacceptable conduct. It may or may not be
intentional. It may involve violent or savage contact such as striking,
kicking, kneeing, moving under an opponent who is in the air and
crouching or hipping in a manner which could cause severe injury to the
opponent. It may also involve dead ball contact or trash talk, taunting
or baiting at any time which is extreme or persistant, vulgar or
abusive. The player committing the foul will be suspended from play for
the remainder of that game or for the rest of the tournament. Flagrant
fouls cannot be called by a player. The court monitor, marshal and/or
tournament officials decision is final.
(C) Yellow Card = Caution: A Caution is a formal disciplinary action
requiring specific procedures to be followed that include the display of a
yellow card. Any player, coach, team official or participant listed on the
Official Roster who violates the Rules of Conduct will be cautioned. A

i. Persistently infringes upon any of the rules of the game.
ii. Shows dissent by word of mouth or action to decision made by the
Monitor.
iii. Uses profane language.

taunting, baiting or ridiculing another player, bench personnel or
officials.

during the course of the game and then commit a second offense will be
ejected. If a player or coach is ejected from a game, that individual or
individuals will not be allowed to participate in the next scheduled game.
(D) Red Card = Ejection: An Ejection is a formal disciplinary action
requiring specific procedures to be followed that include the display of a
red card. Any player, coach, team official or participant listed on the
Official Roster who violates the Rules of Conduct will be ejected from
both the game and the entire tournament. The Monitor shall eject from
the game a player (who can not be replaced), a coach or any team
representative if that individual:

individual, no matter if any contact is actually made or not.
iv. Spits on an opponent or any other person.

INTENTIONAL AND FLAGRANT FOULS WILL ONLY BE CALLED
BY A COURT MONITOR OR MARSHAL. If an intentional or flagrant
foul is called, it will result in a point given to the fouled team, plus
possession of the ball.

10. Sportsmanship: Good sportsmanship and cooperation are both anticipated and
expected. Any question should be addressed to the court monitor at your court.
The team captain or designated parent/coach is expected to aid in controlling
teammates and team followers conduct and to represent his/her team as
spokesperson in case of appeals to the court monitor. Poor sportsmanship
could result in penalties against the team in either the intentional or flagrant fouls
categories (please refer to rules 9A and 9B). Disqualification of a particular
player or an entire team are left to the sole discretion of the court monitors, court
marshals or tournament officials. There will be no review of video or other types
of recordings used in any decisions made by court monitors or court marshals.

player ejected from the tournament will not be allowed to enter the following 2
years, after which future entries will be reviewed.
11. Game length general: Games are played to 20 points, win by one. All made
baskets inside the three-point line count for one point and made baskets outside
the three-point line count for two points. A time limit will be imposed on games
in brackets consisting primarily of teams whose players are entering grades 1
through 12 (see rule 12) . You may win the game on a free throw. The Court
Monitor has the authority to overrule the called foul. All games, unless rule 12
applies, shall end upon the first team attaining a score of twenty (20) points,
subject to earlier termination at the sole discretion of the court monitors and
marshals.
(A) Grades 1 12, Corporate, Family 25 minutes
(B) All other brackets NO TIME LIMIT

Peach Basket Classic Tournament Officials reserve the right to shorten the
length of games due to extreme weather conditions, such as heat.
12. Game length and target score special cases and overtime provisons: This
rule applies to all brackets consisting of teams whose players are entering grades
1 through 12 and Corporate. This rule, at the discretion of a Court Marshal, may
be applied to all brackets. If neither team has achieved a score of 20 points by the
end of the schedules time, 25 minutes, the Court Monitor shall call time-out at the
next dead ball. If at this point of interruption a team has a lead of 2 or more
points, that team is declared the winner. If at this point of interruption neither
team has at least a 2 point advantage, the overtime rule will be activated.

Overtime: In overtime, the target score to win the game is adjusted from 20 to a total
of 2 points more than the leading teams score was at the beginning of the overtime
session. Use these examples as a guideline:
Score of 8 to 8: the first team to 10 wins
Score of 8 to 7: the first team to 10 wins
Score of 8 to 6: no overtime is needed since the leading team has at least
a two point lead.
13. Dunking: Dunking is not allowed at any time, including during warm-ups.
Dunking will be construed as an unsportsmanlike act.

14. Change of Possession: The ball will generally change possession after scored

the opening coin toss, alternating possession thereafter.
16. Ball out-of-bounds: A ball out-of-bounds will be taken from the back-court
line.
17. Boundaries: The front structure of the basket and all supports will be played as
out-of-bounds. With regard to the actual backboard, its face, top, bottom and
sides shall be considered in bounds.
18. Taking it back: The ball will be taken back on each change of possession.
Failure to take it back results in loss of possession and any points just scored.
Taking it back means bringing your whole body and ball behind the dashed
take-back line, not the sidelines or three-point line.
19. Checked ball: The ball must be checked by an opposing player before it is put
into play. The ball must be passed to begin play. No defensive players allowed
past the take-back line.
20. Time-out: Each team is allowed a single one-minute time-out per game. At
Court Monitors discretion, additional time-outs may be taken for the safety of the
players or for other reasons the Court Monitor feels are necessary.
21. Substitutions: Substitutions may be made during time-out or dead-ball
situations.
22. Player injury: In the case of a player injury, the court monitor has the discetion
to stop play and allow for substitution. If the injured player is not mobile, the
game may be cancelled at the discretion of the court monitor and rescheduled by a
court marshal. In the event a player has a non-bandaged bleeding wound, such
player will not be allowed to continue until such time as the bleeding subsides and
the wound is properly bandaged. Blood-stained clothing must be changed before
the player can further participate. Blood appearing on the court or court
equipment must be removed before play can resume. Play at the injured players
court shall continue once the injured player is removed from the playing court,
subject to the sole discretion of the Court Monitor.
23. We are in charge: Walla Walla YMCA Peach Basket Classic officials reserve
the right to disqualify any team for infractions of tournament policies, including
the following:
(A) Use of illegal players: The players listed on the team entry as
accepted by the tournament officials are the only ones eligible
for play on that team. Player changes submitted on authorized
Player Change Forms, and accepted by tournament officials,
must be completed and approved before the teams first game at
9:00 AM on Saturday. A processing fee of $10.00 will be
charged. Under no circumstances will roster substitutions be
allowed after the tournament begins. Before the beginning of
each game, every player will sign a Release and Waiver and
Sportsmanship Pledge.
(B) False Information: Information provided on your team entry
form or authorized Player Change Form is the basis for bracket
breakdowns and is expected to be both accurate and complete. If
a player is taller than 6 feet, but the player has listed his/her
height at 6 foot or under on the entry form, the player will be
disqualified from the tournament. Players who play with
inaccurate height or other falsified information will be
disqualified and the players team will forfeit current game.
24. Game times: Games begin either within five minutes after your scheduled time
or within five minutes after the completion of the previous game, should that
previous game finish after your games scheduled starting time. Forfeits will be

information.
