KIWANIS LOGO/HEADER

December 5, 2009

Good evening and welcome to the Kiwanis Club of Wilton’s 28th annual
holiday concert.

Tonight’s program once again brings together a wealth of Wilton talent

for an evening of festive music and good cheer.

Please join the Kiwanians in extending sincere thanks to tonight’s

volunteer performers, directors, writers and production crew for giving
their time and creative energy to a fun and entertaining introduction to
the holiday season. We offer a very special “thank you” to Miss Jane
Powell who will be our emcee for the evening. A delightful star of
movies and stage, she has lived in town for over 20 years and we are
so pleased to have her here tonight.

And, of course, we extend our gratitude to you, our enthusiastic

audience. Your continued support of this concert and other Kiwanis
fundraisers are essential to our ongoing efforts to assist numerous
local organizations with financial help and to serve our community.

Now please sit back and enjoy the musical gifts from your talented
friends and neighbors.

With our best wishes for a joyful holiday season and a peaceful new
year,

THE ARTISTS

Michael Armstrong Barr - Is happy to be returning home for the holidays.

He has performed professionally in New York, Philadelphia, across the country
on tour as well as in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Michael has
been involved in the construction of many new musicals. For a list of credits or
to enlist in singing or acting lessons, please email MichaelBarr85@gmail.com
or visit www.MySpace.com/MichaelArmstrongBarr.

Kyong Hee Cho – Made her first public performance with the Seoul
Symphony Orchestra at age 11. After winning major nationwide piano
competitions in Korea, she graduated from the Manhattan School of Music with
a B.M. and M.M. in piano performance. In recent years Kyong Hee has used
her talents to perform in numerous charity concerts, both locally and in New
York and California. She teaches piano at her private studio here in Wilton.

Moira Shur Craw - Holds a degree in flute performance from Michigan State
University. She set out to play flute both as a soloist and with chamber music
ensembles, and to teach piano, woodwind and brass instruments. She is a
member of the Manhattan Recorder Orchestra in New York. An exceptional
flutist, she teaches out of her music studio on Westport Road. Check out her
website for more details www.moiracraw@optonline.net

Casey Cunningham – Proudly joins the Kiwanis Holiday concert with a

reprise performance of Little Girls from this fall’s WCT production of Annie Jr.
She has also performed in WCT’s Footloose, and Broadway Hits with Chrystal
Theater, Norwalk, and as King Claudius in Hamlet at Cider Mill’s afterschool
Shakespeare Club. Casey is in 8th grade and plays piano and violin.

Betsey de Groff – Brings many years of choral experience and has conducted
festival choirs in New England, Florida, Wisconsin, and California. She has
served as a clinician/adjudicator for many state and regional festivals, and at
competitions for Music Maestro Please Inc. in New England, Canada, and
California. Her peers in Maine voted her "Outstanding Choral Director of the
Year" in 1998. She is an accomplished singer and private voice teacher.

Al Galletly - Is a past president of the Wilton Kiwanis Club (1999-2000), a

founder of the Wilton Singers, and is currently music director for Wilton
Presbyterian Church. He spent most of his business career with GTE (now
Verizon) Corporation. In 2002, he was named Outstanding Citizen of Wilton in
recognition of his volunteer contributions to the town. He and his wife Jan live
in Stratford.
Richard Glafke - Is in his eighth year as Minister of Music at the Wilton
Congregational Church. Richard received his B.A. and Master of Music degrees
in organ and voice from The University of Michigan. This fall he was guest
soloist in the Pan Asia Youth Orchestra production of The Yellow River Cantata,
which he sang in Mandarin Chinese. This was his tenth performance of the
work, half of which were performed in China.

Susan Isherwood – Returned to Connecticut a couple years ago after 25

years in Maine. She is an accompanist, piano teacher and choir director. She
plays for Wilton High School, the New Canaan Country Day School and is Music
Director for Zion’s Hill United Methodist Church in Wilton.

Kelly Kesler – Has been performing since she was a child. While living in
Virginia, Kelly played the role of Ann in Cheaper by the Dozen, Miss Audubon
in Our Miss Brooks, and Virtue in Anything Goes. Since moving to Wilton, she
has performed in Guys and Dolls, One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Brigadoon
and Our Town. Kelly had the lead role of Fiona in last spring’s production of
Brigadoon. She plans to study acting or musical theatre in college next year.

Annbeth Magee Lattimer – Has lived in Wilton since 1991 when husband
Rob and she were purchased by a pig barn/house. Since its renovation, the
barn has become home to Annbeth’s music school and her twins, Megan (a
member of the WHS Madrigals) and Tim, both of whom are juniors at
WHS. She has happily performed with the Wilton Singers in this concert for
many years and appreciates the sense of community spirit which it inspires.

Sarah Michaels – Has professional credits that include the USO/Bob Hope
tour to the Orient, and national tours of Ziegfeld and Will Rogers Follies. She
has starred in regional and local productions including Evita, Jesus Christ
Superstar, Cabaret, and A Chorus Line. She was most recently seen in Pippin
at the Wilton Playshop. Sarah is a graduate of Salem College and NCSA, is a
vocal coach and voice teacher, and leads workshops in musical theater voice.

Jane Powell – Has performed for five U.S. Presidents and the Queen of
England. With starring roles in 20 major MGM musicals, including the classics
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Royal Wedding co-starring Fred Astaire,
she has appeared in every entertainment medium. On Broadway, she starred
in Irene. On tour, she broke house records in more than a score of American
cities, with starring roles in South Pacific, My Fair Lady, Peter Pan, The Sound
of Music, Carousel, Brigadoon, The Boy Friend, Oklahoma!, The Student
Prince, I Do, I Do, and many others. In the heyday of live radio comedy series,
she played Charlie McCarthy’s girlfriend, and hosted Frank Sinatra’s weekly
radio show in his absence. In October 2008, she was honored by the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs with the Secretary’s Diamond Award for her
“legacy of service to military personnel and veterans.” The Diamond Award is
the VA’s highest honor to private citizens for helping the Department carry out
its mission. She lives in Wilton with her husband Richard Moore.
Eugenie Rocherolle – Is a former, longtime Wilton resident. She began a
publishing career in choral and band music after graduating from Newcomb
College of Tulane University. She has composed over 80 collections of piano
repertoire, distributed internationally. Performances include the Terrace
Theater in the Kennedy Center, and among her awards and commissions are
works for solo and duo piano, church choir, chamber ensembles and chorus
and orchestra. She and her husband now reside in Old Lyme, CT

Cheryll Ryder – Has performed as a soloist and accompanist throughout the

U. S. and Europe. She enjoys teaching at Cider Mill School. She is the proud
mother of Ryan Hadley, one of tonight’s WHS Madrigal Singers.

Patrick Taylor – Was named Music Director for the Wilton Singers this past
month. He is currently director of choirs at Greenwich High School where he
was recipient of the Distinguished Teacher Award in 2005. Prior to GHS he
held a similar position for 10 years at Wilton High School. This December
Patrick will once again be a guest conductor at the annual Messiah Sing-in at
Avery Fisher Hall. He graduated magna cum laude from the Hartt School of
Music and earned an M.A. in conducting from Eastman.

Wilton Congregational Church English Handbell Choir - Was organized in

1993 when the three-octave set of bells was purchased. The group was
expanded in 2004, when memorial funds, established in memory of Andrea
Glafke, Norma Gomard, Malcolm MacGregor and Spence Spencer, were used
to purchase a fourth octave of bells. Tonight’s performance represents a bell-
ringing debut for four new ringers.

Wilton High School Madrigal Singers – Is one of three auditioned choirs at

WHS. The Mads were founded in the 1970s by Elissa Getto, who was also the
founding music director of the Wilton Singers. Since the 1980s, the two groups
have often performed together at the Kiwanis Holiday Concert and Wilton
Singers’ Spring Feast. The Madrigal Singers serve as community ambassadors
for the high school. The award-winning group performs a diverse repertoire of
choral music ranging from classical to contemporary.

Wilton Singers – Have been making music since 1983. Along the way, they
have awarded over $50,000 in scholarships to WHS choral students, and have
delighted their audiences with a varied repertoire encompassing show tunes,
classical, jazz, and popular music. The Singers come from different professions
and musical backgrounds, and span an age-range of over 60 years. But all
have in common the bonds of friendship and their love of choral music. For

JOY TO THE WORLD

Joy to the world, the Lord is come.

Let earth receive her king.
Let every heart prepare him room
And heaven and nature sing…(repeat)

He rules the world with truth and grace,

And makes the nations prove
The glories of his righteousness,
And wonders of his love…(repeat)

WINTER WONDERLAND

Sleigh bells ring, are you list’nin’?

In the lane, snow is glist’nin’;
A beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight,
Walkin’ in a winter wonderland!

Gone away is the bluebird,

Here to stay is the new bird;
He sings a love song, as we go along
Walkin’ in a winter wonderland!

In the meadow we can build a snowman,

Then pretend that he is Parson Brown.
He’ll say, “Are you married?” We’ll say, “No, Man!
But you can do the job when you’re in town!”

Later on we’ll conspire,

As we dream by the fire,
To face unafraid the plans that we made,
Walkin’ in a winter wonderland!
SILENT NIGHT

Silent Night, Holy Night,

All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon virgin Mother and child,
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent Night, Holy night,

Shepherds quake at the sight;
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia,
Christ the savior is born,
Christ the savior is born.

LET THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH

Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me;

Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was
meant to be.
With God as our Father, brothers all are we;
Let me walk with my brother in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment

now.
With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow:
To take each moment and live each moment
in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.
