Business Card
Description:
Tis is a designs for a business card for my window cleaning company Brighter Outlook Window
Cleaning
Programs:
Adobe Illustrator, InDesign
Date:
June 16, 2014
Course:
Com 130 sec 05 Julie Peterson
Objectives:
Create a new logo to ft a company or personal image. Do not imitate existing logos or use previous
designs. Dont use photos or live trace.
Process:
Te logo was designed in Adobe Illustrator using a 3D grid tool to create the window. I kept the
background white so I could create white lines to make the panes blend with the background. I used
the shape tool for the sun by creating a yellow star. I then used the direct select tool to pull the rays of
the sun out further from the window. I did this to convey the message that we will make your home
brighter by helping the sun to shine in through peoples windows more. I used text boxes to put my
name and information in.

Objectives:
Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead. Photos are okay on
business card and letterhead as additional design elements. Letterhead should be 8.5 x 11, full-bleed
optional, but trim only .125. Business card should be 3.5 x 2 and printed above center on a vertical page.
Process:
I used InDesign to place my logo and business card into the letter head. Ten I used the opacity
measure to lighten a larger copy of my logo to create the watermark in the background. I used a textbox
to put my information in the upper right corner. I used the rulers from InDesign to keep things even
between my upper right logo and my contact info in the upper lef. I used .5 margins for this project to
keep things from being cut of of the paper.

Description:
Tis is a montage design using paintings of Akiane Kramarik.
Programs:

Objectives:
Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masks.
Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple elements.
Use a mask to apply a flter to one part of the image.
Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events or scripturesyour choice).
Process:
Tis design was done in Photoshop. I used a masking tool in the program to blend in the smaller
images of Akiane and her paintings with a flter that allows the painting of the baby to stand out the
most. I thought of the message I wanted to get across frst, and then I looked for paintings that would
help to ft the image from Akianes gallery because her work and character are so ftting of someone who
is a believer who sees God in the details. I arranged the images in a way that would lead to the lef and
made the typography have the same colors as the babys face.

Objectives:
Create three completely diferent, original logos to ft a company or personal image that will appeal to
the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use previous designs.
Use only the Illustrator tools to create and draw your logos. (No Illustrator pre-fabricated fares,
symbols, etc.. No photos or live-tracing. You may use an image or drawing as a guide to trace it with the
pen/pencil, but delete the image before submitting.)
Gather opinions from at least ten people about which logo appeals most to them.
Process:
I used Adobe Illustrator to create these logos. I used the pen tool to trace over a ying yang sign but
couldnt fgure out how to fll half the ying yang with black so I had to paint it all in by hand. Ten I
flled the 1 with white and used the arrange option to bring it to the front of the image to be on top
of the black. I also traced the hand on the bottom logo using the pen tool and also used the pencil tool
to draw the inside lines that defned the hand. I used the shape creator to make the triangle for the
middle logo.

Brochure

Description:
Tis is a brochure for my window cleaning company that I hope gets out the message of our company
culture, which is based on our attitude and how we stand out from other window cleaning companies
by the way we work with them and the way we charge with a heart for the jobs we do.
Programs:
Adobe Illustrator, InDesign

Course:
Com 130 sec 05 Julie Peterson
Objectives:
Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.
Create an original company logo and use it in a brochure.
Incorporate quality images. (Incorporate at least four quality images (Not including the logo). One
should be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of
the image.
Process:
I used Photoshop to size and crop the photos, that I then brought into In Design. Also in Photoshop,
I used the lasso tool to cut out a house from the background of one of my images before bringing it
in to the In Design brouchure. In In Design I used paragraph styling templates that helped to keep
things uniform. I used a text wrap as well to interact the images with the text. In print settings I set the
document up to be double sided.

Course:

Objectives:
Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout.
Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.
Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE (non-destructive
editing.)
Size and crop the image, then place on an 8.511 page layout.
Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop.
Print with full-bleed margins. Trim only 1/8 (0.125) from all four sides.
Process:
I used a Cannon camera to take this photo in the Ricks Gardens at a time when there was good light.
I chose to use the green and purple of the bushes behind the statue for my color scheme and use the
vibrance, saturation and color controls in photoshop to make the statue a golden color close to orange,
so that I could use a secondary color scheme with purple, green and orange. I fattened all the levels I
created in photoshop and then made the image larger to ft on a 8 1/2 X 11 with 150 ppi.

Tis is a black and white fier I made with Adobe In-Design to practice the introductory skills weve
been learning about design.
Programs:
Adobe Illustrator, InDesign
Date:

Course:

Julie Peterson
Objectives:
Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.
Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic fier layout.
Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.
Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links in InDesign intact.
Process:
I began this Flier by frst choosing which picture to use from a selection of pictures provided for this
project. Ten I sketched four diferent design possible layouts for the fier before I started to create it
on the computer. Afer being able to see from my sketches that the picture Id chosen didnt seem to
work as well with the messages that needed to go in the fier, so I chose another picture that had better
fow to it. I Ten used In-Design to put the images together and align them with the alignment guides
the program provides. I used a Franklin Gothic typeface for the body copy and Century typeface for
the title to create some contrast. At the end, I did some rearranging to make sure the the objects in the
picture went well together.
