Description: A letterhead with a new logo
Programs/Tools: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign
Date: 6/14/14
Course: COMM130-6
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.
Create a new logo to ft a company or personal image.
Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a
letterhead. Letterhead should be 8.5 x 11, full-bleed optional,
but trim only .125.
Keep designs simple with light watermarks and drop
shadows and plenty of white space.
Include contact information: name, address, phone, and
email on each piece.
Process: I made the logo in Adobe Illustrator, and then made
the letterhead in Adobe InDesign. In order to make the logo,
I used the ellipse tool and the pen tool. I then placed the logo
in InDesign on the top of the letterhead. I used a gradient
tool for the top of the letterhead. I then put in a large version
of the logo on the main part of the page, offset so it would
look a bit different from the top, and decreased the opacity so
you can write on it.

Brochure
Description: A two sided brochure on The Great Pyramid of
Giza. It was designed to fold into a triangle shape. It was
also designed to be folded into a pyramid shape on the other
side for children to play with.
Programs/Tools: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop,
Adobe Illustrator
Date: 7/12/14
Course: COMM130-6
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.
Create an original company logo and use it in a brochure.
Incorporate quality images. (Incorporate at least four quality
images (Not including the logo). One should be clipped in
Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows
the cutout shape of the image. Write at least 250 words of
original copy with at least three paragraphs, headers, and
subheaders. Trim for a full bleed and print in duplex
(two-sided) color.
Process: I found the dimentions of The Great Pyramid of
Giza, and used that to make the shape in Adobe Illustrator,
then copied it and placed them with the sides touching, so it
could be folded into a pyramid. I then took that shape and
used it as a template in Adobe InDesign. I wrote the
text before designing the brochure itself, so
I just placed the text inside. I then
placed the pictures in and had to
move things around to ft.
