BIRLA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY GREATER NOIDA (U.P.) 2013 Introduction- Cadbury, officially Cadbury Enterprises pte Limited, is a British confectionery company owned by Mondelz International and is the industry's second-largest globally after Mars, Incorporated. The company is best known for its confectionery products including the Dairy Milk chocolate, the Creme Egg, and the Roses selection box. Dairy Milk chocolate in particular With annual revenues of approximately $50 billion, the combined company is the world's second largest food company, making delicious products for billions of consumers in more than 160 countries. They employ approximately 140,000 people and have operations in more than 70 countries. Cadbury is headquartered in Uxbridge, London, and operates in more than 70 countries worldwide. Cadbury is the second largest confectionery company with a 10.5% share of the global market. Cadburys India was the very first organizational unit all over the world to implement ERP in its processes.
Objectives- Analysis of the ERP used by Cadbury Enterprises pte Limited which was implemented in the company to integrate their decentralized model and thereby provide them with a competitive edge. Their main expectation from ERP was, IT to help the management work better than before with the existing systems in place.
Methodology- The methodology for our group will be basically as a learner and observer. We will be doing primary and secondary research for the same. For the collection of primary data, we will be communicating with the employees of Cadbury India Ltd., Ghaziabad. For primary data we will be using surveys, reports and journals on ERP implementation. Some of the methods that will be used are Contact an employee of the firm at the IT department / internet for data Understand the business of Cadbury and their organizational structure Study their legacy systems. Gather data on their limitations Compare present data with pre implementation data to identify the effects of ERP
Expected contributions and outcomes- This project will be very beneficial for us as it will not only give us practical knowledge of ERP but will also help us know the problems faced by corporate industry more closely. We expect a positive contribution from our research and its findings to enhance our knowledge and understanding of ERP and it functioning in one of Indias most prestigious organizations, and hope to arrive at all the possible solutions for the methodology describes above. Apart from this we will also know what resulted in failure of ERP in many companies and on the other hand the same ERP system increased profits for some other company. We hope to understand how Cadbury managed to- Implement ERP successfully What was the basic objective for implementing ERP? What benefits Cadbury had post-implementation?
LIMITATIONS The various limitations that we are expecting are- To extract data from any company is going to be a tough task, because the employees in most of the companies are not eager to provide outsiders with the company data. The accuracy of the data provided is not guaranteed. The actual drawback and difficulty faced by the company in implementation of ERP cannot be figured out with information given by employees.
