what is architecture to me?
Creation is a powerful skill, an intriguing ability evolving
from our originalities and perspectives. By formulating our own
unique creations, we may endeavour to create a parallel between
our imagination and the world in which we live. It is said that "we
shape our buildings, thereafter they shape us". In my mind, these
buildings personify and embody the diverse cultures that exist
today, reecting the power and endless potential of man's genius.
Self-expression is what differentiates us as an individual. It is my
passion for Architecture that acts as a catalyst for inspiration and
therefore provides me with a prominent sense of ambition and
desire.

project statement
This design project incorporates a housing component in an urban context: a small apartment and retail space combined in a shop-
house. The project encompasses with the idea of 'housing' in its connotation of containing a function, enclosing a space, and providing a home
to people and things. In this respect, the project examines the way in which colour can express ideas related to the program housed within the
project. It also looks at the contribution of colour to the urban scale environment.
The selection of the colour & material palette was primarily inspired the colours of beer beverages itself and inuenced by the local context
surroundings. Particularly with masonry elements within the surrounding streetscape, brick and stone work can be found in dark reds and a
variety of amber colours. Within the project, an exploration upon the way light refracts upon textural surfaces was a main focus undertaken.
The interplay of colours, materials and how they correlate were considered.
Considering upon material interplay, brick work is utilised primarily as the foundation of structural support while the stone work was applied to
highlight specic spaces and features of the building. On the contrary, stratied glass blocks are utilised to bring in light and to create interplay
with its translucent properties and mediate materials and spaces between the 'inside' and 'outside' environment. Brickwork comprises of both
brick and glass blocks with a 'chattered' effect to envelop upon the user's experience upon light refraction and textural surfaces.
The imposed impression is to create not only a user sensory experience but to also create a colourful vibe amongst the atmosphere of the
building in which helps identify itself as a unique beer shop upon the public.

The artwork is a series of digital photography manipulated images that express my daily dilemmas, experiences and ambitions that
I encounter in my dreams when I fall asleep. Each work explores a different world beyond reality with a sense of surrealism. With a combination
of powerful visuals, emotions, symbolism and colour, it explores, recreates and interprets some my personal dreams. The artworks also
