Background File Transfer

About the Project

Various advanced networks have emerged in past few years, though
networks are used for variety of purposes yet the primary use of
networks remains to be transfer of files, though networks have
advance but using it for transferring of files still remains manual
making users face lots of hardship.
Most of the time files are transferred within organization using LAN or
AN, if a user has to transfer one or few files between two computers
its hardly a matter of few minutes any one wont mind waiting in front
of the !" for the transfer to complete successfully, but the problem is
when you are transferring huge number of files of huge size for
e#ample hundreds or thousands then some one has to keep a watch if
the files are transferring properly or now, hile transferring many
times the transfer pauses to ask user if he wants to overwrite a file or
wants to transfer a read only file and there should some to answer this
only then the transfer will continue.
$he worst case is when %& or '& percent of files are transferred from a
huge stack and the network connection brakes now the user will not
know which files are transferred and which are not, the only option
remains is to start transfer all over again and wait once more for
transfer to complete.
All the above mentioned discomfort is because of the fact that (ile
transferring is still a primary work and some one has to manually wait
and watch for the transfer to complete.
e need a software solution which will do all this manual work for us
and transform the primary foreground work into secondary background
work, $he software should be such that once the user selects the files
and gives the transfer command the software should take care of
everything and make sure that the files are transferred at any cost,
$he user need not worry about the transfer, even if the network
connection breaks the software should restart the transfer from where
it had started when network is restored.
e propose to build a software solution which will be background file
transfer where once the command is given the software will start
transferring files in the background and the user can continue do other
work or leave it on its own and the software will take care that all the
files are properly transferred in any condition.

Objecti#es$
$his pro7ect is initiative to build a uni8ue network for file
sharing where users can freely share files with each other and provide
a common platform for file transferring and sharing. $o develop a
network completely dedicated to file sharing.
$herefore we intend to build a compact yet powerful
platform independent solution using )155 language, which will prove to
transfer a file in the network much faster than the e#isting system.
