INTRODUCTION
O Background of the Study
Big companies and private sectors practice big data to
improve their business and satisfy their customers more.
Some of these private sectors are Google, which uses big
data to store all the information and make it accessible
worldwide, Amazon, that handles millions of back-end
operations every day and Facebook, which uses big data
to store all the photos and other data posted and
uploaded by its users. Some uses these data for medical
purposes, for health and fitness. They use big data to
collect information like what the people are eating,
drinking, their daily habits and other factors that they use
to determine the possible disease these people could
possibly have and prevent it.
INTRODUCTION
Big data was defined as the three Vs (3Vs)
Volume, Velocity and Variety by Doug Laney.
Volume, it is the ability to store and process large
amounts of information. Velocity, the increasing rate
at which data flows into an organization. Variety,
different kinds of data that can be stored whether its
structured or semi-structured. Big data is data that
exceeds the processing capacity of conventional
database systems. The data is too big, moves too
fast, or doesnt fit the structures of your database
architectures. To gain value from this data, you must
choose an alternative way to process it.

INTRODUCTION
Big data has become viable as cost-effective
approaches have emerged to tame the volume,
velocity and variability of massive data. Within this
data lie valuable patterns and information, previously
hidden because of the amount of work needed to
extract them. To leading corporations such as Google,
this power has been in reach for some time, but at
fantastic cost. Todays commodity hardware, cloud
architectures and open source software bring big data
processing into reach of the less well-resourced.

By combining big data and high powered analytics it
is possible to:
O Determine root causes of failures, issues and
defects in near-real time, optimize routes for many
thousands of package delivery vehicles while they
are on the road.
O Quickly identify customers who matter the most.
O Use click stream analysis and data mining to
detect fraudulent behavior.
Statement of the Problem
General Statement
O This study aims to certain the feasibility of applying
3Vs (Big Data) in National University. Specifically,
it seeks to answer the following questions:
Specific Statement
O What method will the proponents use to prove if
3Vs application is feasible in National University?
O What are the factors that affect in proving the
feasibility of applying 3Vs in National University?
O What would be the benefits of applying 3Vs in
National University

Objectives of the Study
General Objective
To prove that the application of 3Vs (Big
Data) in National University is feasible.

Specific Objectives
O To determine what method to be used in
proving the feasibility of applying 3Vs in
National University.
O To determine the factors that affect in proving
the feasibility of 3Vs in National University.
O To determine the benefits of applying 3Vs in
National University.
Hypothesis
Based on the problems stated, the following
hypothesis could be drawn:
O Application of 3Vs in National University is
feasible.
O The method to be used to prove the feasibility
of 3Vs applied in National University be
determined.
O The factors that affect in proving the feasibility
of applying 3Vs in National University be
determined.
O The benefits of applying 3Vs in National
University be determined.
Scope and Delimitation of the
Study

O The study will focus on proving the feasibility of
applying 3Vs in National University.
O The study delimited to National University
Clinic department.
O The study will also focus on determining the
benefits of applying 3Vs in National University.
Significance of the Study
O National University This study will benefit
National University, by the use of the 3Vs, it
will be able to have information that would
help the institution to attract more students,
improve the programs they are offering and
quickly find a suitable and effective professor
for each program.
O Proponents This study would also benefit
the proponents because it will improve their
skills in writing a research paper and widen
their ideas about research.
Definition of Terms
O Cloud architecture refers to the components and
subcomponents required for cloud computing. These
components typically consist of a front end platform
(fat client, thin client, mobile device), back end
platforms (servers, storage), a cloud based delivery,
and a network (Internet, Intranet, Intercloud).
O Open-source software (OSS) is computer
software with its source code made available and
licensed with a license in which the copyright holder
provides the rights to study, change and distribute the
software to anyone and for any purpose.
O Computer hardware that is affordable and easy to
obtain. Typically it is a low-performance system that
is IBM PC-compatible and is capable of
running Microsoft Windows, Linux, or MS-
DOS without requiring any special devices or
equipment.
