VERBS and VERB TENSES in ENGLISH

Introduction
It is important to understand the meaning and use of tenses in English.
The form may e li!e that of a tense in your o"n language# ut the
meaning may e different# so e $ery careful%
TENSES

Simple present# third person singular
Note:
1. he# she# it( in the third person singular the verb al"ays ends in )s:
he wants, she needs, he gives, she thinks.
2. Negative and question orms use !"#S ($the third person o the

the verb to be + the present participle of the main verb.

the a(tion or event. 4hen someone uses the present (ontinuous, the& are thin/ing
about something that isunfinished or incom"lete.
5he present (ontinuous is used:
to des(ribe an a(tion that is going on at this moment e.g. You are usingthe
Internet. You are studying (nglish grammar.
to des(ribe an a(tion that is going on during this period o time or a trend,
e.g.

becoming vegetarian.
to des(ribe an a(tion or event in the uture, )hi(h has alread& been planned
