Objective
To obtain a teaching position in grades K-6 to help further students' education and

Completed an observation in a infant, toddler, and preschool classroom. I was able to
witness, and gain knowledge on the daily routines involved with Early Childhood.

developmentally appropriate practices along with the NAEYC standards and accreditation

Field Experience- Kindergarten Classroom- I was able to apply my knowledge and passion
to help the students achieve common core concepts. I was able to help guide and instruct
small groups along with one-on- one instruction during daily five time.

Field Experience- First Grade Classroom. Assisted the teacher with the daily five by
providing instruction to small groups. I also conducted and mastered numerous reading
running records using the Fountas and Pinnell assessment tool kit, allowing me to better
place students at appropriate reading levels. I provided one-on-one reading support with
struggling students.

Field Placement- (K-2) Resource Room. During this field placement, I was able to witness
effective Positive Behavior Support initiatives, and confer with my coopering teacher about
the roles of an IEP home/school connection. I gained helpful strategies to use inside a
classroom of my own that will help me better serve the needs of all my students.

University Preparatory Academy December 2013

Writing Club Leader, Completed ten sessions working in an after-school writing club with
three second grade students. Each week, I would develop mini lessons following the
writing process. The students, with my guidance and support created a piece of writing
with confidence and was able to gain the experience of what it feels like to be an author.
All pieces of literature were published in the school magazine.

Internship Teaching (Preschool) Maintained an organized and successful learning
environment through consistency, preparedness, flexibility, and understanding. Created
age-appropriate lessons and activities for 3 and 4 year olds.

Reading Tutor, Grade 4. Tutored a struggling reader for ten weeks. Mastered the concept of
assessment, and learned the value of reflective teaching. I developed mini lessons geared
toward the readers abilities that aligned with the Common Core State Standards. All
lessons primarily focused on various reading comprehension strategies. Conducted three
running records to properly assess the student.
