This qualification has been designed to develop the
knowledge and understanding of all staff working within an environmental management system (e.g. ISO 14001). Who needs this qualification? Those with responsibilities within an environmental management system (such as ISO 14001) Why is this training important? All organisations have a legal responsibility for the impact that they may have on the environment. This qualification focuses specifically on the practical issues associated with implementing an environmental management system. Learning outcomes Successful completion of the training programme and assessment will enable candidates to understand: key global environmental issues and the concept of sustainability the advantages and disadvantages of implementing an accredited environmental management system the purpose of and process involved in developing an effective environmental policy how to identify and evaluate an organisations environmental aspects and impacts the structure, function and operation of environmental law how an environmental management system can be implemented the purpose and processes of checking environmental performance including monitoring and measuring, corrective and preventive actions and auditing the reasons for producing an environmental report
Level 3 Award in Environmental Management - Portfolio of evidence Please read this important information before booking your place on this workshop. Only delegates who bring a portfolio of evidence with them on the day of the event will be permitted to participate. The aim of the assessment of competency is to establish that you have sufficient knowledge and understanding to deliver the CIEH Level 3 Award in Environmental Management. You must provide a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your experience of implementing an environmental management system within an organisation. This portfolio of evidence must include the following items. 1. Personal statement 250-500 words describing your personal experience of implementing an environmental management system. Please provide: a brief description of the organisation and associated legal and other requirements details of your role at each stage of the process policy, planning, implementation, checking and reviewing and reporting. Please also include details of any relevant training and/or qualifications. 2. Environmental policy Provide a copy of the environmental policy (demonstrating a commitment to continually improve environmental performance, prevent pollution and comply with environmental legislation and other requirements). 3. Environmental aspects register Provide a copy of the environmental aspects register (including direct and indirect aspects, description of inputs, operations and outputs for normal, abnormal and emergency situations, and an assessment of significance). 4. Environmental objectives and targets and environmental improvement programme Provide a copy of example environmental objectives and targets and a description of the environmental improvement programme. 5. Implementation improving environmental performance Provide evidence of one management control you have implemented for example, details of a training programme, recycling initiative or new procedure that has resulted in an improvement in the environmental performance of your organisation. 6. Environmental audit Provide a copy of an environmental audit report clearly identifying the area audited, the auditor and date of audit, the evidence reviewed and findings. Where the audit identifies non-conformities, the evidence should also include details of corrective/preventative actions.
