The Air I Choose to Breathe

With deliberate intention, I have chosen for my heart to live in the kingdom of God
1
rather than the
world. The spirit of the air I choose to breathe belongs not to satan,
2
but to Christ my king.
The spirit I breathe numerous times a minute is a spirit of life, not death;
3
of grace, not legalism or
greed;
4
forgiveness rather than condemnation;
5
and abundance, not scarcity.
6
I live in hope rather than
hopelessness;
7
optimism instead of pessimism;
8
and just as faith is replacing my doubts, so is power
taking the place of my weaknesses;
9
even my instability is being displaced by loyalty
10
and sanity.
11

My debt is disappearing
12
because more than enough
13
is Gods way. Yes, where there used to be
anxiety
14
and despair,
15
there are now joy
16
and peace,
17
fruits of Gods spirit,
18
which permeate His
kingdom.
19
As well, day by day I find myself living more in forgiveness, and less in condemnation, and
my wounds (both physical and emotional) are healing
20
too.
The air I breathe is healthy, not poisonous and dynamic rather than stagnant. The dominant spirit of the
air in which I have chosen to live is love, not fear.
21
Moreover, Ive chosen the incorruptible Lamb of
God who redeemed me to be my ruler
22
because, unlike human leaders, He is not only perfect in his
love, wisdom, and power
23
, but is also immortal.
24
I can depend on His always being there for us, the
governed.
It was because his disciples had chosen him as their king that Jesus prayed that our heavenly Father not
take them out of the world, but protect them while they were in it.
25
That way they could carry on His
work of proclaiming to that world that was still breathing the devils energy-sapping, and ultimately fatal
spiritual smog, proclaiming to them the gospel of peace, freedom, and reconciliation.
26

Because Jesus had cleansed them of much of the worlds spirit by means of his words,
27
he knew the
world would persecute them as it had and would persecute him.
28
They were no longer of the world
29

and it would reject them. But with faith and courage, His sheep would endure as they followed His
voice.
30
And you, too, can learn to respond with a gracious blessing instead of a curse, to every
inconvenience from petty annoyance through fatal persecution.
31
If thats something you want, choose
to live in Gods kingdom, breathing His holy spirit.
Once we hear the gospel of peace and choose to accept Jesus Christ as our redeemer we become co-
heirs with Him
32
of his divine nature/his spirit,
33
and He writes our name His book of life
34
as a citizen of
the Kingdom of God.
35
Moreover, as we breathe more and more of His clean air, we experience a life
increasingly cleansed by His forgiveness, enriched by His grace, imbued with His peace, and empowered
with hope.
36

However, to do so, we must deliberately choose to accept his death as the model we are to follow with
respect to our old man/old self,
37
and his resurrection as the model for our own resurrection as a
born-again saint.
38
We must choose to move out of this worlds spiritually poisonous smog into Gods
fresh air.
The Air I Choose to Breathe
And, when we do choose to make Jesus love the cornerstone of our lives, we become the temple in
which God lives,
39
because we are breathing His clean, empowering, and life-imparting air, His Holy
Spirit!
