John Hancock

As a young boy, John Hancock lived near a famous rock called The Wishing
Rock. It is said that everyday, he would run around the rock, making wishes about his
future. This can be used to explain why he had such a lucky, interesting life.
John Hancock was an early leader of the Continental Congress. He was also a
merchant and helped organized The Sons of Liberty and signed his name very elegant
and large on the Declaration of Independence. John was born on January 23, 1737 in
Quincy, Massachusetts. He grew up rich with his aunt, uncle, and siblings; Ebenezer,
and Mary. Hancock went to Boston Latin School in 1750, later attending and graduating
from Harvard University in 1754.
As John got older, he began to be known for his personality. He was said to be
thoughtful, funny, clever, friendly, and very generous. So generous that Hancock paid for
certain expenses needed during the Revolution. He also was very brave. In fact, the
british considered John hancock as well as Samuel adams The most dangerous
patriots of the revolution. because of all of the things that he and Hancock did. The
british also thought John as a threat, because of his confidence in winning the war.
John Hancock contributed significantly to the independence of America. He
was an early leader of the patriots, helping organize The Sons of Liberty. He became

president of the second Continental Congress and helped sway the other delegates to
support independence. Hancock remains famous because he signed his name very
large on the Declaration of Independence. He said that this was to Allow the British to
read his name without their glasses. Signing the document was an act punishable by
death. His emphatic signature very courageous, telling everyone that the colonists were
ready to stand up for independence. Today, John Hancock is slang for Large
Signature.
John Hancock made a large impact on the United States history. The impact
was so big that if he did not do the things that he did, America might still be part of
England. In fact, America may not even exist without John Hancock as the president of
the second Continental Congress. America should be grateful to have had a leader like
John Hancock.
In conclusion, John Hancock was a great American leader and helped establish our
independence. I think that he played a big role in the Revolution, and he played it well!
