&he aa?ing race 8or school counities is a tea!uilding challenge 8or groups o8 all ages3 9tudents 4ill !e asked to
deonstrate counication$ leadership and 8airplay skills D outcoes included as part o8 General ;utcoe C D
Cooperation in the )-1: Physical #ducation progra and General ;utcoe R D Relationship Choices in the )-9 Health
and @i8e 9kills progra3 Consider having students set up an aa?ing race 8or their peers$ or the sta88 can set it up as an
activity to !uild school spirit3
rganization Groups o8 /-, students 4ill coplete the challenges organi?ed as stations3 ;nce each challenge is
coplete$ the group 4ill receive one letter clue$ 4hich 4ill allo4 the to spell the 8inal pu??le3 #nough
stations need to !e prepared so that each group is a!le to participate at a di88erent station3 +i3e3$ 1-
groups E 1- stations.3
%s students enter the starting area$ each one 4ill receive a 6plane ticket7 +piece o8 paper 4ith the nae o8 a country on it
and a ap o8 4here the country is located.3 ;n the signal to !egin$ students ust gather 4ith others 8ro the sae
country and 8ind their 6!ackpack73 Contents o8 each !ackpack are" one length o8 aterial 8or each tea e!er and one
long skipping rope3 When teas arrive at the !ackpack$ they place their plane tickets inside and each get a strip o8
aterial3 &he aterial identi8ies the group as a tea and should guide their creation o8 a tea nae and tea cheer3
While copleting the aa?ing race$ all tea e!ers ust have at least one hand on the tea rope3
;n the signal to !egin$ teas travel to a station$ read the challenge card and coplete the challenge3 ;nly one tea at a
tie ay !e at each station3 When coplete$ the tea receives a clue and oves to a ne4 station3 ;nce all teas have
copleted the aa?ing race or participated 8or a pre-deterined aount o8 tie$ have each tea deonstrate their tea
cheer3
