Interpersonal Personal Effectiveness & Group Dynamics

METHODOLOGY

A survey was conducted taking responses of 14 industry experienced people with 12 fresher.
From the institute the responses of 17 students were taken out of which 5 are from the
institute. A google document was prepared asking questions about their perceptions. The
questions asked were:
1. What does MBA programme mean to you?
2. What according to you will make a person placement- worthy?
3. What does happiness mean to you in personal & professional life?
4. How do you define success in corporate world?
We also took the help of WhatsApp, email and also we called up 6 work-ex people to get the
detailed explanations regarding the views presented against a specific question. A detailed
analysis as per the responses given by them has been presented according to the questions
asked.

The above table & chart shows difference in perceptions between the fresher and people with
work experience. People with work experience were found to be more complacent when it

was about employability as they already had the exposure so skill enhancement and salary
hike was a major concern for them whereas fresher were attracted to MBA largely due to
better salary and employability.

Placement is generally perceived as important for both the category but the perception about
the parameters affecting the same are different in both the cases. Both the categories felt that
communication skill was of utmost importance for their final placement. Experienced people
give more importance to analytical skills and the domain knowledge against the fresher who
takes this to be relatively less important. Responses by fresher indicate that they have more
inclination in their perception that it is personality that gives the desired job.

When we consider success in corporate world, most of the people with work
experience are of the view that job satisfaction is of utmost importance to be successful in
corporate world and salary holding relatively lesser importance whereas for the fresher high
salary was an indicator of success. People with work experience give more importance to
networking, recognition and rewards for the innovation that they do whereas fresher do not

balance and a need for social life satisfaction hold more importance to them compared to
fresher. Fresher are found to be more oriented towards fulfilling their material need which
gives them happiness whereas work experienced people are found to be more oriented
towards social satisfaction which makes them happy.
