Engineer: -An engineer is a professional practitioner of engineering, concerned with applying scientific knowledge, mathematics and ingenuity to develop solutions for technical problems. -Engineers design materials, structures, machines and systems while considering the limitations imposed by practicality, safety and cost. - Electronics engineers design new products, write performance requirements, and develop maintenance schedules. They also test equipment, solve operating problems, and estimate the time and cost of engineering projects. - The word engineer is derived from the Latin roots ingeniare ("to contrive, devise") and ingenium ("cleverness") -Engineers are grounded in applied sciences, and their work in research and development is distinct from the basic research focus of scientists. -The work of engineers forms the link between scientific discoveries and their subsequent applications to human needs. - Engineers have a base of knowledge and training that can be applied in many fields. Electronics engineers, for example, work in the medical, computer, communications, and missile guidance fields. Because there are many separate problems to solve in a large engineering project, engineers in one field often work closely with specialists in other scientific, engineering, and business occupations.
Types of engineer include: -Chartered Engineer, European Engineer, Incorporated Engineer, Professional Engineer, Royal Engineer
Electronic Engineers : - It is a combined study of design and testing of electronic circuits that use the electronic properties of components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors etc., to achieve a particular functionality. - Electronics engineers could be consultants, market planners or company developers. -Electronic products are projected to become smaller, more reliable and less expensive over the years. It is important for engineers to understand the companies, their product lines and their place in the industry as a whole before plunging into the accelerating market.
Job Responsibilities : -Design, development, implementation and verification of signal processing methods toward innovative prototypes for new sensor product lines. -A strong understanding of methods for theoretical verification while balancing the need to carry novel ideas into prototypes for products. -A basic understanding of the principles of sensing and measurement techniques is required. -Must demonstrate willingness and an ability to travel to customer sites (international travel and / or assignments).
Job Requirements : -Excellent communication, presentation, and team skills are required. -You need a college degree in engineering for almost all engineering jobs. -Getting into engineering school takes good grades in math and science. Students also need courses in English, social studies, and computers
Education : -College grads with a degree in a science or mathematics may get some jobs. -Getting into engineering school requires a strong report card in math and science, and courses in English, social studies, and computers. -In a typical college, the first 2 years are for studying math, science, engineering basics, the arts, and social sciences. In the last 2 years, most courses are in engineering, mostly in a single branch.
Characteristic of Electronic Engineer : -Engineers should be creative, curious, analytical, and detail-oriented. They should be able to work as part of a team. People skills are important. This is because engineers often work with people in a wide range of fields. -independent thoughts, an urgency to create, imagination and vision, above-average intelligence and a keenness to learn, combined with logical reasoning. -The engineer must be capable of identifying a problem and must then try to find the best solution as fast as possible and at the lowest cost. Sometimes the optimum solution requires unlogical thinking. - They must also have a aptitude and a liking for Mathematics.
Benefits of Becoming an Engineer : -Job Satisfaction, Variety of Career Opportunities, Challenging Work, Intellectual Development, Potential to Benefit Society, Financial Security, Prestige, Professional Environment, Technological & Scientific Discovery ,Creative Thinking
