Firey cocktail from Suba
The worst part of any va-
cation is the getting there
part.
Add kids to the trip, and
the getting there will
leave you with a bald spot
where you ripped hairs of
your head, one by one by
one.
My family makes an
annual trek north on In-
terstate 81 to the wild and
wooded shores of western
Lake Ontario.
Google Maps will tell you
the trip door-to-door takes
about four hours.
Im telling you that unless
youre driving in dead of
night and navigating the
construction chutes with
both feet on the gas pedal,
the trip takes six hours.
Its not a particularly
scenic trip.
Sure, you see the wind
turbines across the moun-
tains near Frackville. Thats
pretty exciting. And the
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton me-
tropolis is a thrilling burst
of civilization after driving
through the forest for two
hours.
Otherwise, the trip is a
300-mile monotony of trees.
