This was unheard of and even rather scandalous, for Jews did not associate with Samaritans and men did not generally speak to women outside of their families. But Jesus goes against this convention because he knows that she has a deep need. She has come to the well for water to last the day, but he offers her living water from the spring of eternal life. The late Tom Mathias (husband of Sheila Mathias - our preschool Assistant Director, a Woodmont member, and hand bell choir participant, among other things), volunteered full time on property issues for ten years prior to his passing in September of 2011. Tom Mathias used his family's Red Dodge Caravan to complete the volunteer work he devoted his time to. Tom would not only oversee major property issues but also do a lot of small repairs around the property for the church and the preschool rooms. Approximately five to six years ago, Tom's family donated the van to the church since he used it for church property issues for so many years. The van is essential to Woodmont's day to day operations. It recently underwent a face lift and McLean Automotive did all of the work. "Blake McLean our son-in-law, did the paint and repairs on the van this past spring", explained Sheila, "Blake is married to our daughter, Abby." Blake McLean of McLean Automotive can be contacted at 615.574.3923 for any kind of automotive need - body work or repairs. This was unheard of and even rather scandalous, for Jews did not associate with Samaritans and men did not generally speak to women outside of their families. But Jesus goes against this convention because he knows that she has a deep need. She has come to the well for water to last the day, but he offers her living water from the spring of eternal life. Our elders request you join them in prayer this week to remember: A safe and successful school year for all students and teachers A deeper prayer life for the church family as we intercede on behalf of those struggling with illness, loneliness, and grief Gratitude for all U.S. military personnel and the sacrifices they and their families continue to make to protect our cherished freedoms A more compassionate spirit enabling the church family to share the love of Christ with our community Woodmont News Woodmont's Nursery Woodmont's Nursery is a clean, caring, and newly-renovated space and is available for infants and toddlers during worship services and other events.
