On Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 3:48 p.m., the Riverside Police Department received a call of an individual who had been thrown from a moving truck in the southbound lanes of Harlem at Addison Road. Upon the first officers arrival, the vehicle in which the subject was thrown from, a white panel van, continued to go southbound on Harlem. A short time later, the vehicle returned at which time police ordered the truck to stop at the corner of Addison and Harlem. When the driver exited the vehicle, he told officers that there was an individual in the back of his truck that had been stabbed. When police opened the truck rear cargo door, they found a male subject with two stab wounds to his leg sitting in the back of the truck. He had his leg shrink wrapped so that blood would not continue to flow. The officers summoned paramedics to the scene for both individuals. During the investigation at the scene, it was learned that the driver, who was not involved in this situation, was driving to a storage facility in Romeoville. The middle seat passenger, who was the stabbing victim, and the right seat front passenger were brothers. The offender, sitting at the passenger right door after arguing with his brother who was seated in the middle seat lunged over twice with a box cutter and stabbed his brother two times in the leg. The brother then fearing for his life pushed his brother out the door while the truck was moving. Both individuals were taken to McNeal Hospital in Berwyn for treatment. Both brothers were released later that same night into police custody. It was learned through investigation that earlier in the day the two brothers had argued over both having an intimate relationship with the same woman. This escalated to where the suspect while driving on Harlem Avenue stabbed his brother. The victim, who was stabbed, pushed his brother out the door in self-defense as it appeared that the suspect was going to continue to stab his brother. EWS RELEASE RIVERSIDE POLICE DEPARTMENT 31 Riverside Road, Riverside, IL 60546 Riverside Police shut down the intersection of Harlem and Addison for approximately 45 minutes to process the crime scene which included the white box van.
