Design Compliance

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.4.4
2
DESIGN COMPLIANCE
1) Define network requirements per operator or wireless service
RF compliance criteria can now be defined for each operator or wireless service in project properties.
Output maps are now linked to technologies where compliance settings can be defined for each, in an
effort to standardize output maps. A list of output maps is displayed in Project > Properties > Calculations
> Prediction > Output maps where users can configure compliance values for each system.
Select the output map and define the compliance criterion with up to 4 types of limits. The Minimum,
Maximum, Average Minimum and Average Maximum values are assigned as thresholds that define those
criteria.

When saved, the defined compliance values become part of the output maps and can be then shared as
templates among users.
2) Extend the compliance criteria to additional RF metrics
The compliance criteria requirements are extended to include RSSI, SNIR, Data Rate, RSRP, RSRQ
and Soft-handoff. The following table lists the supported RF criteria:

Multiple compliance values of the same criteria can be set for the same output map.
For example:
RSRP > -121 dBm (95% of area)
RSRP < -25 dBm (100% of area)

3) Compliance results in output maps
When setting compliance criteria, users can now apply all settings to a list of wireless service.
Compliance results are visually shown on the generated output map, with a legend as a guide to the
set compliance values. The results indicate the target result, the limits and the target area.

Compliance settings can be applied on multiple floors. A new compliance report is created to show
compliance results for individual and combined floors. A breakdown of results for each floor and a
summarized metrics for all combined floors are included in the compliance report.

UPLINK ANALYSIS
4) Mobile Transmit Power Output Maps
Uplink analysis has been extended to include uplink output maps. Three new output maps are now
available:
Mobile Transmit Power map (Voice): This map is available for LTE, CDMA and WCDMA. It
displays the required mobile Tx power values for each pixel in the Prediction Area to maintain
a voice application.
Mobile Transmit Composite Power map: This map is available for LTE technology only. It
displays the required mobile Tx power values for each pixel in the Prediction Area for an
application over the entire LTE RF channel.
Mobile Target SNR (Voice) map: This map is available for LTE technology only. It displays
the required Target SNR value for each pixel in the Prediction Area to maintain a voice
application.
Uplink coverage limits are definable in project properties by selecting one of the supported
technologies (CDMA, WCDMA and LTE) and defining maximum and minimum mobile transmit power
values: Project > Properties > Calculations > Prediction > Network optimization > Uplink.

Uplink Analysis

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.4.4
6
Prediction of uplink coverage provides designers with the ability to adjust the RF environment for an
optimized network. Uplink noise level indicates noise interference from mobile subscribers to the BTS
and increases with the number of mobile subscribers. In order to simulate this, define the acceptable
Cell Load (%) in the Uplink panel for CDMA and WCDMA or the Noise Rise (dB) for LTE.

5) Uplink warnings and checks
The maximum BTS uplink desensitization value can be configured in the System Wizard for CDMA,
WCDMA and LTE technologies to set a threshold level. A warning is sent out if the desensitization
value reaches the maximum value defined in the system for each BTS. If the value exceeds the
defined threshold a debug message is displayed in the Design plan.

The N
EQ
(Equivalent Noise Figure) is displayed under the DeSens value in the Design plans for each
system.

Power Sharing

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.4.4
10

POWER SHARING
8) Power sharing for neutral host systems
Power sharing among multiple operators in an Active DAS is now supported. Allocated power is
assigned for each operator and power sharing is accomplished at installed remote amplifiers. This
allocation of power is achieved by using filters at the head end.

In iBwave Design 6.4, attenuation values can now be automatically calculated and applied to the
signals in order to deliver the required power percentage to the remote amplifiers.

The power sharing feature can be enabled for wireless services in Project > Properties > Project >
Power Sharing. For each wireless service the required power allocation level can be assigned.

SUBPART GROUPING
16) Subpart support
Subparts are supplementary equipment normally ordered along with main components for design
projects. For example, power supplies or screws are typically ordered as subparts. There is no more
need to manually add these parts to the design plans for an accurate bill of material (BOM).
When adding a part in a design plan, its associated parts are also added. Designers can then edit
their quantity and cost. Equipment, Cost, and Cross-reference reports are now modified to show this
association.
Sub-parts are defined in the DB Editor as shown below:

Sub-part quantities are assigned in Design as shown below:

SUPPORT FOR MOBILE MARKUP LAYER
17) Read-only markup layer
A markup layer is new to iBwave Mobile, where field technicians make their markups on a floor
design plan using the new markup feature. These markups might pertain to potential cable routes,
location of electrical outlets and other adjustments to the floor plans. When downloading the saved
Mobile project via Unity, the markup layer becomes read-only mode in Design with the ability to
accept or reject markups onto the project.
Mobile projects are downloaded to Design from the Unity server previously saved in the field using
the Mobile application. The Markup Layer option must be checked to visible-mode, in the Layer panel
however markups cannot be modified, added or deleted from Design, but they can be rejected or
accepted onto the underlying project.
