Passion, He one day aeared to her and said!

Our Lord made the following romises to anyone who recited the )$ St. Bridget Prayers
forwhole year!
Promises
). # will deliver )$ of his lineage from Purgatory.
/. *ifteen souls of his lineage will be confirmed and reserved in grace.
0. *ifteen sinners of his lineage will be converted.
%. -hoever recites these Prayers will attain the first degree of erfection.
$. *ifteen days before his death # will give him (y Precious Body in order that he may escae
eternal starvation1 # will give him (y Precious Blood to drink lest he thirst
eternally.
2. *ifteen days before his death he will feeldee contrition for all his sins and will haveerfect
knowledge of them.
3. # will lace before him the sign of (y 4ictorious 5ross for his hel and defense against the
attacks of his enemies.
&. Before his death # shall come with (y 6earest Beloved (other.
7. # shall graciously receive his soul, and will lead it into eternal 8oys.
)'. And having led it there # shall give himsecial draught from the fountain of (y 6eity,
something # will not do for those who have not recited (y Prayers.
)). Let it be known that whoever may have been living instate of mortal sin for 0' years, but
who will recite devoutly, or have the intention to recite these Prayers, the Lord
will forgive him all his sins.

O =esus 5hrist> ;ternal Sweetness to those who love ?hee, 8oy surassing all 8oy and all desire,
Salvation and Hoe of all sinners, -ho hast roved that ?hou hast no greater desire than to be
among men, even assuming human nature at the fullness of time for the love of men, recall all
the sufferings ?hou has endured from the instant of ?hy concetion, and esecially during ?hy
Passion, as it was decreed and ordained from all eternity in the 6ivine Plan.
@emember, O Lord, that during the Last Suer with ?hy disciles, having washed their feet,
?hou gavest them ?hy (ost Precious Body and Blood, and while at the same time ?hou didst
sweetly console them, ?hou didst foretell them ?hy coming Passion.
@emember the sadness and bitterness which ?hou didst e:erience in ?hy Soul as ?hou ?hyself
bore witness saying! "(y Soul is sorrowful even unto death..
@emember all the fear, anguish and ain that ?hou didst suffer in ?hy delicate Body before the
torment of the 5rucifi:ion, when, after having rayed three times, bathed insweat of blood,
?hou wast betrayed by =udas, ?hy discile, arrested by the eole ofnation ?hou hadst chosen
and elevated, accused by false witnesses, un8ustly 8udged by three 8udges during the flower of
?hy youth and during the solemn Paschal season.
@emember that ?hou wast desoiled of ?hy garments and clothed in those of derision1 that ?hy
*ace and ;yes were veiled, that ?hou wast buffeted, crowned with thorns,reed laced in ?hy
Hands, that ?hou was crushed with blows and overwhelmed with affronts and outrages.
#n memory of all these ains and sufferings which ?hou didst endure before ?hy assion on the
cross, grant me before my death true contrition,sincere and entire confession, worthy
satisfaction and the remission of all my sins. Amen.
Second Prayer

O =esus> ?rue liberty of angels, Paradise of delights, remember the horror and sadness which
?hou didst endure when ?hy enemies, like furious lions, surrounded ?hee, and by thousands of
insults, sits, blows, lacerations and other unheard of cruelties, tormented ?hee at will. #n
consideration of these torments and insulting words, # beseech ?hee, O my Savior, to deliver me
from all my enemies, visible and invisible, and to bring me, under ?hy rotection, to the
erfection of eternal salvation. Amen.

O =esus> 5reator of Heaven and earth -hom nothing can encomass or limit, ?hou -ho dost
enfold and hold all under ?hy Loving ower, remember the very bitter ain ?hou didst suffer
when the =ews nailed ?hy Sacred Hands and *eet to the 5ross by blow after blow with big
blunt nails, and not finding ?hee initiable enough state to satisfy their rage, they enlarged ?hy
-ounds, and added ain to ain, and with indescribable cruelty stretched ?hy Body on the
5ross, ulled ?hee from all sides, thus dislocating ?hy Limbs.
# beg of ?hee, O =esus, by the memory of this most Loving suffering of the 5ross, to grant me
the grace to fear ?hee and to Love ?hee. Amen.

O =esus> Heavenly Physician, raised aloft on the 5ross to heal our wounds with ?hine,
remember the bruises which ?hou didst suffer and the weakness of all ?hy (embers which
were distended to suchdegree that never was there ain like unto thine. *rom the crown of ?hy
Head to the Soles of ?hy feet there was not one sot on ?hy body that was not in torment, and
yet, forgetting all ?hy sufferings, ?hou didst not cease to ray to ?hy Heavenly *ather for ?hy
enemies, saying! "*ather, forgive them for they know not what they do..
?hrough this great (ercy, and in memory of this suffering, grant that the remembrance of ?hy
(ost Bitter Passion may effect in userfect contrition and the remission of all our sins. Amen.

O =esus> (irror of eternal slendor, remember the sadness which ?hou e:erienced, when
contemlating in the light of ?hy 6ivinity the redestination of those who would be saved by
the merits of ?hy Sacred Passion, ?hou didst see at the same time, the great multitude of
rerobates who would be damned for their sins, and ?hou didst comlain bitterly of those
hoelessly lost and unfortunate sinners.
?hrough this abyss of comassion and ity, and esecially through the goodness which ?hou
dislayed to the good thief when ?hou saidst to him! "?his day, thou shalt be with (e in
Paradise,. # beg of ?hee, O Sweet =esus, that at the hour of my death, ?hou wilt show me
mercy. Amen.

?hy agony and whom ?hou didst entrust to thy faithful discile when ?hou saidst to (ary!

to have comassion on me in all my affliction and tribulations, both cororal and siritual, and

O my Saviour, to inflame in our hearts the desire to tend toward erfection in all our acts1 and
to e:tinguish in us the concuiscence of the flesh and the ardor of worldly desires. Amen.

O =esus> Sweetness of hearts, delight of the sirit, by the bitterness of the vinegar and gall
which thou didst taste on the 5ross for Love of us, grant us the grace to receive worthily ?hy
Precious Body and Blood during our life and at the hour of our death, that they may serve

ocean of bitterness at the aroach of death, insulted, outraged by the =ews, ?hou didst cry out

endure when all ?hy strength, both moral and hysical, was entirely e:hausted, ?hou didst bow
?hy Head, saying! "#t is consummated>. ?hrough this anguish and grief, # beg of ?hee, Lord
=esus, to have mercy on me at the hour of my death when my mind will be greatly troubled and
my soul will be in anguish. Amen.

broken, and the bowels of ?hy (ercy oened to redeem us, ?hou didst ;:ire. By this Precious
6eath, # beg of ?hee, O Aing of Saints, comfort me and hel me to resist the devil, the flesh and
the world, so that being dead to the world # may live for ?hee alone. # beg of ?hee at the hour of

5ross, ?hy delicate *lesh was destroyed, the very Substance of ?hy Body withered, and the

?hrough this bitter Passion and through the outouring of ?hy Precious Blood, # beg of ?hee,
O Sweet =esus, to receive my soul when # am in my death agony. Amen.
5onclusion
O Sweet =esus> Pierce my heart so that my tears of enitence and love will be my bread day and
night1 may # be converted entirely to ?hee, may my heart be ?hy eretual habitation, may my
conversation be leasing to ?hee, and may the end of my life be so raiseworthy that # may
merit Heaven and there with ?hy Saints, raise ?hee forever. Amen.
