Kali Santarana Upanishad

In the Kali-santarana Upanishad (1-11) (One of the 108 principal Upanishads), the
maha-mantra is established as the only means of deliverance in Kali-yua!
hari om. dvaparante narada brahmanam
jagama katham bhagavan gam
paryatana kalim santareyam iti. [1]

before ta.in up the chantin process- (arada )uni is no& as.in for our bene3t
about the speci3c mantra &hich one should chant to become puri3ed of all sins in
Kali-yua- If one accepts the chantin process after properly understandin the
authencity and po&er of the maha-mantra, then one &ill never be deviated or

made in recent editions of Kali 'antarana Upanishad published by ?amanandis &ho

'amhita, 'hri Ahaitanya Upanishad (%tharva 4eda), %ni 6urana, 'anat-.umara
'amhita and 4ayu 6urana, the #are Krishna maha-mantra beins &ith #are Krishna

sarvada shuci%ashucira va pathan
brahmanam salokya samipya
sarupatam sayujyatam eti. [)]
*ord +rahma replied, /;here are no rules and reulations to chant this maha-
mantra- It should be chanted al&ays irrespective of &hether one is in a pure or
impure condition-
yadasya shodashikasya sardha trikotir japati.
tada brahma hatyam tarati vira hatyam.
svarna steyat puto bhavati. pitrideva
manushyanam apakarat puto bhavati. [1*]
/8hen one chants the 1C names of the maha-mantra DE million times (sardha
tri.otir), he absolves himself of the sins of .illin a brahmana or a .shatriya,
stealin of old or enain in harmful activities to&ards oneFs forefathers or other

one is intensely eaer to achieve the personal association of the *ord &ithout much
delay, he can achieve the taret of DE million maha-mantras by chantin 1G0
rounds (G00,000 names) daily for around I-E years, preferably by residin in the
trancendental abode of the *ord li.e (avadvipa, 4rindavana or 6uri- 'uch devotees
are called bha5ananadis as described in 'hrila +ha.tivinoda ;ha.uraFs Jaiva ,harma-
Ofcourse one has to radually increase his chantin to this standard- )any of the
previous 4aishnava acaryas &ho have e=celled as reat preachers and saviours of
humanity have successfully completed this reat sacri3ce of chantin DE million
maha-mantras or more before beinnin their missionary activities-
If one &ants to ta.e any vo& in spiritual life, then this is the best vo& to ta.e (na
nama sadrsham vratah) i-e- to complete the chantin of DE million maha-mantras in
this lifetime as described in the Kali-santarana Upanishad- Aompletin this vo& &ill
ensure &ithout any doubt the complete perfection of this human form of life and
complete and permanent freedom from the repeated cycle of birth and death- 8e
encourae all the readers of this boo. irrespective of their ae, status, caste, creed,
color, race, se=, country, position etc- to thin. of seriously ta.in up and completin
this vo& in this lifetime and thus ma.in it their last life in this material &orld- ;he
more &e delay to bein the chantin of the maha-mantra, the more diKcult it

reactions (past, present and future) and liberation from the miseries of material

of completin this vo& should be to realiBe and become situated in our eternal,
lovin constitutional relationship &ith 'upreme 6ersonality of 7odhead *ord Krishna
and thus achieve the .indom of 7od-

ain 5ust by the reular chantin of the #are Krishna maha-mantra- +ecause
enerally, it may ta.e many lifetimes to come to the level of achievin complete
spiritual perfection by the o9enseless chantin of the #are Krishna maha-mantra-
