Position Title: Maintenance Technician III

Summary:
This individual is primarily responsible for the routine and extensive preventive maintenance, repair,
modifications, and installation of equipment utilized in various processes of the business. In addition, this
individual has the same responsibilities for the facilities, including air and water systems, structures,
heating and cooling systems, and boilers. This position may be responsible for scheduling technicians in
the Facilities Engineers absence. Most of the work, unless unexpected or emergency repairs, is managed
via a work order system. Occasional travel may be required and overtime (planned and unplanned) can
be expected. Maintenance Technicians are on a one week rotary On Call basis to answer alarms outside
of normal business hours, including weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Installs, repairs, and maintains critical equipment to help ensure Companys ability to produce, test,
and ship product. Works with outside subcontractors and/or vendors as necessary.
2. Maintains the preventive maintenance program and ensures that preventive maintenance
procedures on mechanical equipment are performed on a scheduled basis, including maintaining
records of the maintenance and/or repairs.
3. Installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing for domestic, deionized and non-potable water
systems. This includes the waste and storm drainage systems.
4. Installation, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, controls, devices and wiring.
5. Assists with construction projects as requested.
6. Provides backup in supervisors absence by reviewing daily jobs and scheduling staff accordingly.
7. Provides effective training to level I and II technicians in buildings and equipment.
8. Completes routine boiler checks as required by regulations; uses extensive knowledge of boilers to
perform repairs, diagnose issues, and schedule service.
9. Conducts diagnostic work on variety of equipment; recommends appropriate course of action to
Facilities Engineer.
10. Ensures that minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment are completed within
established timeframes as determined by the Facilities Engineer. Repairs, replaces broken windows,
doors and door locks immediately in an effort to maintain facility security.
11. Maintains system for ensuring that daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on building equipment
monitoring are completed as scheduled.
12. Participates in all aspects of renovation/remodelling activities including carpentry, drywall, plaster
and painting.
13. Responds to emergency maintenance issues by being on-call on a rotating basis. Response time
must be within a maximum of one hour of the initial call. Responds to calls from the Security
Provider based on equipment alarms at all times.

14. Maintains parking lots, walkways, and steps for safety. This includes, but is not limited to, snow
removal, salting, sanding, and general repair
15. Obtains estimates for supplies, repair parts, etc. and orders as needed utilizing the internal
requisition, and purchase order system.
16. Maintains detailed and accurate records in accordance with USDA regulations. Reviews paperwork
of other technicians to ensure accuracy prior to submission to supervisor.
17. Assists with updating, writing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for the department.
18. Assists with quality initiatives for continuous improvement and promotes team concept within the
testing department.
19. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Must possess a minimum of an Associates Degree in facilities, engineering, or other appropriate degree
and have five (5) years experience and working knowledge in a minimum of one of the following areas:
Plumbing, Heating, and/or Electrical. Advanced training, certifications, or licenses in any of the above
trades is strongly preferred. Must possess refrigeration certificate. Must maintain a valid Maine high-
pressure boiler operators license and a valid drivers license. Must have computer skills and be adept in
Excel and Word. Experience with data tracking software for equipment is desirable. Individual must
possess professional verbal and written communications skills. Be able to work as part of a team. Be able
to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to obtain and maintain FBI
background check clearance for select agent(s).
