Optical Emission Spectrometers

A R LQuantoDesk Desktop Optical Emission Spectrometer

The ARL QuantoDesk is ideal for
production or quality control in
foundries, or manufacturing facilities
looking for:
Quantitative analysis and
Grade identification
Easy to use, compact and space
saving, the multi-base ARL
QuantoDesk desktop spectrometer
provides many of the analytical
facilities of larger spectrometers.
The single CCD chip has the
equivalent of 8000 detectors, covering
all of the wavelengths (from 170 to 410
nanometers) necessary for multi-
element, multi-base analysis without
the need for additional hardware. The
use of CCD detection also enables
complete spectrum scans to be
recorded.
The software provides for automatic
profiling, simultaneous background
correction on every measurement and
full spectrum handling permitting even
the identification of unknown elements.
The ARL QuantoDesk OES is a compact, desktop spectrometer for
metals analysis, based on CCD (Charge Coupled Device) technology
ARL QUANTRIS Optical Emission Spectrometer
The ARL QUANTRIS is the answer to
your metallurgical analysis needs;
whether you are a small foundry, a
large steel plant, an industrial central
laboratory or an expert service centre.
Among many advantages, the ARL
QUANTRIS includes:
Full and continuous coverage of the
wavelengths from 130 to 780 nm,
allowing the analysis of all elements
required by the metals industry,
including key elements like carbon,
sulfur, phosphorus and nitrogen at
lowest levels
Analysis of virtually all elements in all
metal types
Rugged spectrometer, thermo-
controlled sensors, automatic
optical alignment and spectrum
profiling to minimise drift and
corrections
Flexible, compact, stable and reliable
High-end CCD (Charge Coupled
Device) technology permitting
recording of full spectrum and
qualitative analysis of any element
High-end Current Controlled
excitation Source (CCS).
Proven WinOE software running
under Windows XP
Easy extensions of analytical
capabilities without hardware
modifications
Lowest investment and operating
costs, easy to maintain, opportunity
to increase productivity.
The new ARL QUANTRIS is a top performance, second generation,
metals analyser based on CCD (Charge Coupled Device) technology,
which achieves performance of traditional full-size PMT instruments.
ARL 3460 Optical Emission Spectrometer
More than 2500 of these systems are
installed around the world, making it
the single best selling optical emission
spectrometer of all time. This unique
record has been developed via a
program of continual enhancement
allowing new features to be
incorporated into the system as they
became available.
In addition to being the first OE system
to be available with Microsoft Windows
software, the ARL 3460 has also
pioneered analysis of gases in metals
via optical emission.
Now, over 250 ARL 3460s are routinely
employed analysing nitrogen in steels
and, more recently, oxygen in copper.
This development has proved
particularly beneficial for cost savings
in primary metal production as the
substantial capital investment and
operating costs of combustion analysis
equipment can be avoided.
The ARL 3460 metals analyser is widely regarded as the industry
standard for fast, reliable and accurate metals analysis.

X-Ray Spectrometers
Two important new capabilities have
been added to the Thermo Electron
well established spectrometer: The
patented Current Controlled Source
(CCS), which allows a faster attack on
the sample and therefore permits faster
analysis times and improved precision
of analysis, and the Time Resolved
Spectroscopy (TRS) system, which
permits clearer differentiation between
useful analytical signals and
background, therefore allowing better
limits of detection to be achieved.
Together, these capabilities
substantially
improve the performance of the OE
technique and allow faster analyses
(well inside one minute over an
average of two runs) and improved
detection limits for trace analysis.
Even more recently, a new Spark-DAT
capability has been made available as
an option on the ARL 4460. This allows
information to be gathered from the
individual sparks and permits on-line
and fully integrated investigation of
inclusions (type, quantity, density...) in
metals.
The ultimate in performance for spark emission metals analysis to
allow rapid, reliable quality control of metals. The ARL 4460 OES is
quite simply the best system for metals analysis produced to date.
ARL 9900 Series X-Ray Spectrometers
The ARL 9900 series spectrometers
also provide:

ARL ADVANT'X X-Ray Spectrometer Series
From the monitoring of a few elements
in oils, polymers, cement or quarry
materials to the full analysis of glasses,
metals, ores, refractories and
geological materials, any of these
applications will find its perfect match
within this new instrument family. The
powerful WinXRF software and
standard-less analysis packages,
QuantAS and Uniquant, extend the
use of these instruments for simple
and rapid analysis of various samples
to totally unknown samples.
A comprehensive sample changer
allows large numbers of different
samples to be treated fully
automatically in mixed batches, further
adding to the flexibility of the ARL
ADVANT'X series.
A family of sequential X-ray spectrometers, ARL ADVANT'X, allowing
the analysis of up to 84 elements. At the heart of these systems lies
the exclusive, gearless Moire fringe goniometer.
