PHILOSPHY AND CURRICULUM
The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher
inspires. --William Arthur Ward

Our Philosophy
The philosophy behind our curriculum is that young children learn best by doing. Learning isnt just
repeating what someone else says; it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and
to learn firsthand about the world we live in.

Goals of the Curriculum
The most important goal of our early childhood curriculum is to help children become
enthusiastic learners.
. Our goal is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. We are
teaching them how to learn, not just in pre-school, but all through their lives

Other Goals of the Curriculum
1. inculcate patriotism and nationalism
2. Foster Love of humanity
3. promote respect for human rights
4. Appreciate the role of national heroes
5. Teach rights and duties of citizenship
6. Strengthen ethical and spiritual values
7. Develop Moral Character and Personal Discipline
8. Encourage critical and creative thinking
9. Broaden Scientific and technological knowledge and promote vocational efficiency

Characteristics of a Curriculum.

Effective educational curriculum combines structure and flexibility
The key is to find a balance so teachers may practice their craft and feel some autonomy in the
classroom.
Curriculum should be results oriented with multiple types of assessments that measure success of both
students and teachers Professional autonomy
the focus of school improvement must be based on continuous student progress through vertical
and horizontal curriculum alignment
There must be a standard written, taught, and assessed curriculum for every subject in the district
written curriculum should include curriculum guides, lesson plans, and grade records
The curriculum must have a balanced core of learning.
Curriculum should be inter-disciplinary so students can make connections scaffolding their
learning from one subject to another
