In newsprint, our award-winning weekly, paid-
circulation newspapers and TMC products (The
Oxford Leader, The Lake Orion Review, The
Clarkston News, The Citizen, the Ad-Vertiser and
the Penny Stretcher) are complemented with a host
of timely niche and specialty publications. These
publications are highlighted by the monthly Biz
news-magazines and anchored by annual
community favorites like Progress, and our
community guide and newcomers relocation
resource INFO. SPI special sections are designed to
help our customers seasonal needs, from home
improvement, lawn and car care to health and
beauty themes.
From the beginning, the Sherman family (and a
long line of dedicated staff) have helped the
smallest local businesses become the largest of
local businesses. We have stayed in business and
have grown, when others have come and gone, by
partnering with our customers. When our
customers business grows, so does ours. We
have a stake in the local economy. We care about
the local community because we are a part of the
local community. SPI has bucked the national trend
and stayed local. We are an independent small
business -- not a faceless mega-corporation based
hours away. We own, staff and
pay taxes to brick and mortar
buildings in each of the
communities we serve. We
remain a locally owned and
operated family business and
understand the local Mom &
Pop shops struggle to survive.
Our publications inform and
entertain. We provide our
advertising customers with an
affordable and effective vehicle to reach into every
single home and business in Northeast Oakland
County -- we cover your market area like a blanket!
Advertising is an investment
One of the best investments a business can make
in itself is advertising. Advertising is an
investment, not an expense. It is the number one
defense against a staggering or sluggish economy.
Contrary to the popular cliche, few products or
services sell themselves. The aim of advertising
is to create awareness of your product or service,
to arouse the customers consciousness
advertising keeps your product or service in the
publics eye. It has to be effective, it also has be a
continuous process. These days the biggest
challenge for small and large businesses alike is
retaining loyal customers while driving new folks
through the door. Research shows one of the top
reasons a business fails is lack of a marketing
plan, and subsequently lack of effective
advertising. The good news, SPIs advertising staff
is trained to help our clients create a marketing
scheme and budget for advertising.
As we partner with our customers, our staff never
charges to create effective, professional
advertisements. Getting a proof is also a free
service to our customers. Remember, it is our job
to help you market the goods and services you
provide -- and when your business is successful,
so, too, is ours.
However large or small, whatever your business,
partnering with Sherman Publications gives you
automatic credibility and an invitation into every
address in Northeast Oakland County. If you want
to grow your business, if you want to target and
reach this local market, call us.

barrier with a website that has become a widely popular on-line destination for readers near and far.*
To operate on the principals of honesty and integrity; To incorporate your ideas which are
bolstered by past lessons; To publish a product that will be accepted by people in the area
we serve; To report with accuracy and fairness; To service advertisiers with imagination

Listed below are the various sizes of ads for the Sherman Publication
weeklies. Our intent is to make the ad decision-making process more user
friendly by taking some of the usual mystery and confusion out of the ad
planning and purchasing decision.
The advertising options for the SPI Publications are presented in what is
called a modular format allowing for 19 standard or most commonly used
sizes of advertising.
To make the decision even less complicated, we have assigned a letter
code to each of the 19 modular sizes, which corresponds to our rate card.
The rate cards show the total per ad cost corresponding to a given modular

the first incorrect publication only. If a pre-publication proof of an advertise-
