MISSION™ 3-Pass
A new generation of shell boilers
A high efficiency is achieved by
using swirl-flow smoke tubes in
the convection section. The tube
design creates greater turbulence
which enhances the heat transfer
coefficient.
The thermal efficiency of
MISSION™ 3-Pass is 91% at full
load - and very stable through-
out the load range.
In combination with an economizer
the efficiency can be as
high as 95%.

new generation of boilers for utility plants
and process industries.
A thoroughly modern industrial design
based on recognised and well proven
principles. The boiler is optimised to assure
quality, reliability, long life, easy mainten-
ance and sound economy.
Efficiency
Optimal thermal efficiency has been in
focus during the development of the
MISSION™ 3-Pass boiler. A high efficiency
is ensured by using the swirl-flow smoke
tubes in the convection section of the
boiler. These tubes, which are specially
developed by Aalborg Industries, create a
high level of turbulence enhancing the
heat transfer coefficient to a maximum.
All sizes of the MISSION™ 3-Pass boiler are
designed with an efficiency of around 91%
at full load, and the boilers are very stable
at different boiler loads. In combination
with an economizer, the efficiency can be
increased even further to around 95%.
Pressure parts
In the smaller boilers, the heating surfaces
are arranged symmetrically with the furna-
ce in the centreline of the boiler to secure
optimum water circulation while on the
14.9 MW and higher capacity boilers, the
two furnaces are placed symmetrically
around the centreline of the boiler. The
furnace is designed with a plain surface for
low pressures and with a corrugated fur-
nace for higher pressures and capacities.
The reversal chamber is fully water cooled
to reduce stress in the boiler and protects
the refractory and therefore increases its
reliability and lifetime. The pressure part
builds on well documented design and
production concepts. All pressure parts are
manufactured in carefully selected mater-
ials without high tensile steel. The MIS-
SION™ 3-Pass boiler is designed according
to the European PED/EN 12953 and ASME
Sect. I codes.
Control system
The control system incorporates:
■ Burner Management System with load
and sequence control
■ Water level control and safety equip-
ment
■ Motor and oil heater starters
Burner
MISSION™ 3-Pass comes with a burner of
either the pressure atomising, steam ato-
mising or rotary cup type for fully automa-
tic operation. Burners for fuels such as nat-
ural gas, oil or combined firing of gas and
oil can be offered.

Easy installation
The MISSION™ 3-Pass boiler is
ready to be plugged in. Supplied
with ready-mounted burners, control
panel, fittings and cables.

The small foot-print makes the boiler easy
to incorporate in the plant design.
Easy inspection and maintenance
To the greatest possible extent, all connec-
tions and valves are located on top of the
boiler - easily accessible during installation,
inspection and maintenance. A number of
manholes facilitate internal inspection.
Easy to clean
The smoke tubes are easy to clean thanks
to the low number and efficiency of the
swirl-flow tubes.
Uniform, high steam quality
The boiler’s efficient steam drier delivers a
dry, saturated steam.
Improved combustion
The furnace has a comparatively low heat
release ratio and provides ample space for
the flame. This improves combustion and
limits flue gas emissions.

The boiler is the key part of the steam
plant. However, without other components
in the steam system, the boiler cannot
work. At Aalborg Industries we have
extended our service beyond just being a Food & beverage
boiler supplier, and we have specialised in
supplying complete package solutions for
steam plants, which means that we are
capable of supplying all components for
the steam system from the water softener
to the steam header. We can offer to make
a complete system design in a co-operation
