God is so good and so fiathful to care for us here and we pray that His presence
is evident in the working of your lives there at home...GOD K SO GOOD......
We feel really blessed to be a part of the Lord's work here, as it is growing
everyday. Eleven have been baptized so far and there is now a new 'TDody of Christ"
at the little Church in San Roque. V/e are able to observe the Lord's Supper and
are now teaching such things as tithing, etc. There are many attending the services
with attendance on Sunday mornings, a high of 76 children. The night church is
having from 80 to ICQ. Praise the Lord! We have four young people that we hope
will be able to attend a week of meetings on learning how to teach children. We
feel it is very important to have Costarican teachers and helpers as soon as
possible.
Roberta and Sally are fine, and are ready for a 2 week vacation in July (the
middle of their school year). We are hoping to have a few days of V.B.S. for
the children here in our neighborhood during their vacation. The children axe
really looking forward to it, as they ask all the time when we are going to begin.
Praise the Lord for their interest. Bob aad Janet are I^ept busy with Bible Studies,
Sunday School, Church and all the things involved in making it go smoothly. Bob
has not been able to fly for a few weeks, due mainly to the rainy weather. We are
selling 8uid giving away lots and lots of Bibles. Praise the Lord. There is much
interest and we pray that the Lord will raise up strong believers and a strong
church here in this area. We forsee many problems for the peoples of Latin America
in the years to come. Please pray with us for the people here.
We all miss Sam very much, but we know the Lord is taking good care of him there.
We have talked to him on the phone and that helps a little. When you see him,
give him a big hug rom us, okay? Hal called us before he left the States for
6 months of sea duty. He will be back in December, Lord willing. Please pray
for Hal and Sam.
The war is still raffing in Nicaragua. We are i^aying for an end to it soon, as
many lives are being lost and the whole country destroyed. Please pray vrith us on
this matter. Although we are very close to the border, vjo are safe from the
bombings and the shooting, but wo are not safe from the antt-anerican feelings
and the communist propaganda. Please pray for us, as it is hard at times to not
say what you are thinking. This is something wo must not do, if we are going to
be able to continue working with the people here. V/e love oH-ir country and are
very proud to be North Americans, but vre must always remember, we love the Lord
more and are here as His goodwill ambassadors. Do not ever forget how really
blessed you are by being North Americans and living in a free country. Forget
to complain and remember to praise God for being where you are and who you are.
Our mail is not very good rigtit new! We do not know if it nas anything to do with
the fuel shortage or not, but we are ^t receiving the correspondence we were
before. Please remember to write as often as you can, it is so very important
to us to hear from our loved ones there at hom^. A big "thank you" to the ones
who are always faithful in their letter writing.
We would like to ask special prayers at this particular time. Things seem to
be getting worse as far as the political situation here in Costa Rica and even
though we try not to notice, it does affect us and our ability to wcrk effectively.
Pray that we will always remember that we are safe in the hands of our Lord.
"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid,
neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou
goest." Joshua 1:9 What a beautiful promise!!S! Praise His Holy name,
we love Him so!!!!
In Jesus* love and service, we love you,
" YOUNGS CHftrll

Oreetings in the name of our Lord Jesus,
What a promise and privilege we have in prayer,"And whatsoever ye shall
awSk in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the
son." John 14:13 VJe find our prayers being answered daily......
July was a very busy month with a week of special training for 6 of cur
young people from San Roque Church. They had classes and practice in
"howto teach children." This was so good as now we are able to
use them as helpers in the Sunday school classes'. We also had a
beautiful week of revival. A different speaker each night and a
big spiritual blessing for the people of the Church and fojr us a
well. Several came forward and made committments with six
baptisms making the total, up to now, 17 baptized believers.
PRAISE THI3 LORDii
We felt we were also especially blessed daring the month of July with
visitors from home. David, Dorma and Nathaniel Finch were here to visit
and help with the work. It was a good month for all of us. Thankr you
David, Dorma and San for coming.... We also had a friend from Puerto Rico
who spent a week with us in August. Alma Zuelli is here studying at the
Language School in San Jose and we hope she will be back again soon.
The Church is growing and is a blessing to all. We have 4 Sunday' school
classes now, with work books, tables , benches, etc.Everything
is really beginning to fall into place. Although we
never really thought of ourselves as "Church Planters", it
seems that this is the natural result of teaching and sharing
Gods word and love with those about you. PRAISE THE LORD, a
church forms....Night Church is great. The people love to
sin.'-; and pray and hear God*s word preached
Another real blessing is the Youth Group that has fo'med on F'riday
I nights. There are 20ar:d more yqung people attending. Roberta and Sally
are very active in helping it go and grow. Tuesday night Bible
study, Thursday night prayer meeting and Sunday night Church plus
Bible correspondence courses, keep Bob busy. ..while Janet, does
dlT) I planning of the Sunday School and has a Saturday afternoon
^ Ladies Bible Study....
The flying ministry is still more or less at a stand still because of the
rains, plus the lack of time...as we are giving more and more time to the
San Roque Church. yy They have decided to start praying and planning
toward building,
and is becoming
a cement block
or 25jz^ U.S...
is a big step
$3,000.oo
matter. Once we
little by little
as the building we are now using is only rented
very inadequate.....so each member has pledged
every 15 days. Each block cost about 2 colones
Nowthat may seem small to you, but to .them it
out on faith. We figure it' will take about
to buy ground, so please pray with us on this
have the ground bought.... the rest will come.
We have a very special project going right now. 'We received
92 small, wooden dolls from a caring person at Woodland Heights
Christian Church and we are now in the process of painting and
assem.bling them for our Christmas "treat" for the children at
the Sunday School in San Roque...Thank you very much Harry Sperry
and all who were involved from Woodland Heights. God bless each
of you..
Tiiank you all so much .-.or your faithfulness in your prayers, letters
and support of the Lord*s work here in Costa Rica....We wish you could all
come down to see what the Lord is doing hereJii We pray always for the
work there at home
We love you in Jesus,
/ n
