December: Youth Christmas Party

Dear Parents,

The beginning of the school year means another exciting year for youth ministry. One
way we get things started is by welcoming the new 7
th
graders to the group as they
promote. We do this my having, what we call, a 7up party. The regular students get
the opportunity to hang out with the incoming 7
th
graders in a relaxed and fun
environment.

The party will be held on Wednesday, August 6
th
from 6:00-9:30pm. We will meet
outside Crackerjax Family Fun Park (16001 N. Scottsdale Rd., 85254 [Scottsdale and
Bell]) where students will get a unlimited ride wristbands. The cost of this event is $10 for
students and if they bring a friend the friend can come for free. I realize for some, this is
a school night and even though the wristbands are good for 4 hours, students can be
picked up anytime. Please let one of our adult leaders know if you are leaving early so
we keep an accurate count of all students.

Promotion Sunday: August 10

Sunday Morning: 9:15-10:25am - AM Bible Study

Enclosed is the fall semester calendar. More information will come as each event of
the semester gets closer. If you have any questions about these activities please call
me at 480-949-0901. I am looking forward to this new year of youth ministry. God has
worked mightily in the past and I anticipate it again.

Thanks,
Todd Miller- Youth Pastor

Brief description of the other Wed.s in August

Wed. August 13 Back to school party: This is the first night back on campus for
everyone. We will have a volleyball tournament, games, prizes, and root beer floats.

Wed. August 20 Students will have the opportunity to meet the new small group
leaders for the fall semester and better understand what their small group will look like,
when it starts in Sept. They will compete for the best looking banana split as we build
and eat ice cream together.

Wed. August 27 Students will sign-up for small groups this night. We will walk over to
Yogurtland (1/4 mile south of the church) and the youth ministry will pick up the tab for
the yogurt.
Back to School Lock-in
Parents,

We will be joining a number of Christian churches in the south-east valley for an all-
night lock-in at Flipside (bowling and fun center). The actual event starts at Tri-City
Baptist Church at 9pm. There will be games, prizes, and a Christian challenge before
we head to Flipside. Students can meet at First Southern Baptist Church Scottsdale to
carpool. Students will need to organize their own ride home at 6am. The cost of this
event is $20. This would be a great event for students to invite a friend.
